My Turner ancestors lived in Indiana for several generations. Recently, I discovered that my ggg grandfather, William Turner, was born in VA in about 1788 and settled in Switzerland Cty., IN by 1820. His wife, Tabitha Pruitt, was also VA born. Wm Turner was a farmer and a member of the Baptist Church. He and his wife had a large family, and I suspect that almost all of the past and present Turners in southeast IN are descended or related to him. I will go thru your list over the next day or so (as the kids let me use the computer) and answer some of your questions and compare info. Please bear with me as I am a beginner at this from a serious standpoint though I started collecting info on paper in the 1970's. First off, most of the data you have seen from me is from the 1978 Patrick-Henry Allied Families of Virginia, Inc annual meeting program (they started in 1952 and continue today). As founder May ROSS MCDOWELL says in the beginning, the data is as much based on hearsay and family recollections as solid research (the ROSS line and BURNETT were researched at the time). My list from this meeting specifically shows Elizabeth Turner marrying 1/2/1804 to Charles Foster but the way the list is typed it could be in the wrong place as Exony was right above with no marriage listed. I would tend to believe your and Christine's info since it lists more marriages than I have for the rest of the family. Samual C. TURNER and Nancy STOVALL are my great great grandparents. The info I have on their children was put together by my grandmother from family bibles, etc so it is in good shape. My great grandmother was Mary Ann TURNER who Married Benjamin B. PEDIGO. I did know my great grandmother though the memories are faint. Here is the listing. Children of Samuel C. Jane's parents, as you know, were William Hunter and Charity Loftus (or Loftis). William Hunter was the son of Andrew Hunter and his wife Jane who were living in that part of Hanover Co. that became Louisa Co. in 1742. So far no one has been able to trace Andrew's parents, as the Hanover records are gone, but I do have a lot of information on his descendants (over 600 in my database). I would very much like to have your descent from William and Charity Hunter to add to my information and any other descendants of theirs that you have. I notice that you asked about GEDCOM files. I don't know how to do that yet. Also I can't figure out how to download anything in my Freenet or do anything that would smack of computer literacy. I will be happy to send you postage to snail-mail me your info. if you wouldn't mind. My address is 9 Malvern Ave., #1, Richmond, VA 23221. It is always exciting to find another Hunter descendant. Gaunt) David, Thanks for the info on your Turners and Burnetts - we are distant cousins, I think. You have Shadrack (b 1720) with a daughter Elizabeth who married Charles Foster. I have her marrying Samuel Packwood, and her sister Exony marrying Charles Foster. But the info I have is not documented; I'm waiting for it. I'm descended from Samuel Packwood. Your post did get mangled in the transmission, which makes following the descendants somewhat difficult as the lines wrapped. Here's what I have for the Shadrack and Ann (Pollard) (Hill) TURNER family: Elizabeth P. TURNER b. abt 1747 m. PEDIGO (b. 1863)] the daughter of Samuel C. and Nancy Stovall Turner? I know of someone else with Shadrack and Judith Turner in their line; I'll forward your info to her once I make sure I've got it straight. (AOL's mail editor seems to allow more characters per line than most Internet mail programs. If you can, try setting your characters per line at 72 or less.) Here's the info she sent me on Shadrack and Judith's family: l.Shadrack "Shady" Turner, born about 1790 and Judith Burnett, born November 26, 1797, Elamsville, Patrick County, Virginia, had the following children: 1. Elizabeth Betsy G. Turner, born December 22, 1813 2. Mary Ann Turner, born about 1815 3. Amanda Burnett Turner, born March 17, 1819 (my husband's ancestor, who married Robert Anderson Ross). 4. William Ross You have John Burnett marrying Elizabeth first, then Nancy. I've got a widow's dower document for Elizabeth Burnett, widow of John Burnett. Could the order have been reversed? Also, you have Jeremiah, David, and Amelia as well as John Jr as children of John Burnett (b. 1727). I'm confused. Do you have John Burnett Jr's children? When did your two Johns die?
