Campbell-L Mailing List
What the List Is
The Campbell-L mailing list is for anyone who is researching the surname
Campbell anywhere in the world. We have some subscribers who are also
members of a Clan Campbell Society in their area. Membership in the Clan
is not required to be a subscriber on the mailing list.
If you have a Campbell ancestor you are researching then the Campbell-L mailing list is for you. We are a growing list of
about 1000 subscribers who have Campbell ancestors or Campbell lines we are researching.
There is also a Clan Campbell Society Genealogy Forum which is
not linked to the mailing list in any way. It is web-based and was created for those researchers who do not have email
access. You might also look there for messages that might pertain to your research.
How to Get On or Off the List
The following instructions tell you how to get on and off the list. If you have your browser set up for email, the message
should pop up automatically with the correct Subject and your correct email address; just check them and send your email.
You should receive back a reply from the list's server with the email address you subscribed with, a copy of your subscribe
request, and a welcome message. If you do not receive this message, contact the listowner by emailing
campbell-admin@rootsweb.com.
There are two versions of Campbell-L:
- The first is the
regular version, which emails messages out to subscribers one at a time.
This lets you read them "as they happen".
The other is the digest version, which is really one large message
composed of the regular list messages. The digest message is sent out
every three days or sooner, depending on how active the list is. They are
usually no larger than about 30K.
No matter which version of the list you choose, the mailing address for
posts is the same:
Campbell-L@rootsweb.com. You
must be a list subscriber to post to the list.
Getting on or off the Regular List
To subscribe to Campbell-L and receive individual posts from the list,
send an email as follows:

To unsubscribe from Campbell-L, send the following message:

Getting on or off the Digest
To subscribe to Campbell-D and receive messages bundled together into
a Digest, send an email as follows:

Campbell List Archives
The list archives are on Rootsweb and can be either searched or browsed. Archives go back to 1997.
