Dan Monroe realized his talent at an early age. By the time he was nine years old, he was already doing pastel portraits and selling them. In his early adult years, Dan spent a ten-year commitment with the United States Army where his talents were widely used. Dan Monroe attended Kendall College of Art & Design, and then went on to teach art at Western Michigan University, all the while producing artwork for various companies and private collections. At this time Dan Monroe lives in western Michigan with his wife and children, where he still produces graphic art, and illustrations.
