The Middle Ground

By Larry Williams

At first I walked within the light
But then I fell to dark
I emerged between the sides
Left with each one's mark

I have no god to rule me
No realm to call my own
I walk these dark middle grounds
They are my only home

Here, no angels dare to tread
Nor demons dare to lurk
For fear of those such as me
Who kill with just a smirk

I use deceit as my weapon
Second only to my sword
Which side I'm on remains unknown
You'll never know my chord

I'll laugh within the shadows
And bellow from the light
I'll lurk among the middle grounds
And in your dreams tonight

Larry Williams is a 17-year-old born and raised in the beautiful (and refreshingly wet) Washington state. He has loved to write since he first discovered poetry in a class at school, and since then has taken every glimmer of inspiration to work for him as he could. Besides writing he enjoys reading, the occasional video game, being with friends, walking/running outside, learning anything he can from anywhere, just plain having fun, and relaxing in thought about who knows what (maybe his next poem?).
