Some of the operative cases

Some of the Myelomingocoele patients were small neonates. The Saran wrap (cling film) keeps the baby from losing heat. We had to remove it sometimes as the rooms got so hot the older kids would start to cook.

Our tiniest baby was 4 days old and 1.8 kg in weight. He had a myelomeningocoele and needed a shunt followed by a repair of his back lesion.

This child had marked hydrocephalus and required a shunt, note the sunset eyes.

This could be the same kid later in the week after the shunt had decompressed the bulging fontanelle.

Me anaesthetising a child for shunt revision.

CT of extreme hydrocephalus, there is a thin rim of brain surrounding the CSF which fills the skull.
