Here are some of my photos from Guatemala of the Healing the Children Medical Mission; University of Michigan Project Shunt 1999.

A group of 16 surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, translators and helpers spent one week in Guatemala City taking over an empty operating suite, completely stocking it and operating on children with neurosurgical problems including hydrocephalus, myelomeningocoeles and encephalocoeles. 26 cases were done in five full days of operating.

The trip was organised by Nick Boulis in conjuntion with Healing the Children, an American charity. If you are interested in helping or sponsoring next year's trip in any way please contact Nick at nboulis@umich.edu.

There are links below to different pages for different parts of the expedition.
