First of all I want to say how proud I am of our armed forces and those of our allies in the fight to liberate Iraq. The road home is through Baghdad! Press on!
I've gotten caught up with Muster Bar additions and updates. Note: The Roll Call form is closed for the time being.
The RollCall form is closed because a lot of changes are going to happen really soon to my website. It's moving to a new server complete with it's own domain name (cv41.org) and a lot of cool things I've been waiting for. Some of the new things I'll be bringing up;
Higher Resolution photos available
Muster Bar moved to a database
Forum (SuperCharged Shit Shooters Gazette)
Possible USS Midway items for sale, i.e. coffee mugs, etc...
Several shipmates have sent me photos and other items for the website; Bill Lowers, James Houchin, Jeff Jarvis, John Fink, Jose Lahoz, Mark Wade, Steve Hadley, J.P. Hale (c/o his son Ed), and Tony Macdonald. Just want to let you guys know I haven't forgotten or worse, lost your stuff! Because of space restriction on the current web server I'll be adding you items when I make the move this week to the new server. J.P.'s slide scans are outstanding and I want to thank his son, Ed for sharing them!
If all goes well the web site as it is now, will be moved early in the week. Hopefully I'll be able to get the "new" stuff going shortly afterwards.
A big thanks to everyone's patience while I get better services going. Hopefully everyone will think they are worth the wait! - Buzz

Believe it or not, all Muster Bar entry additions and updates are completed. There were a few entries that were missing e-mail addresses, so I couldn't reply to get a correct one. Also, some entries were missing information and requests for more information on some went unanswered or the e-mails bounced. If you submitted an application and it's not there or it's incomplete let me know. Now maybe I can get some other cool stuff posted that I've been wanting to get to. - Buzz

Discovered a major bug in the generation of the Muster Bar tables from the data files. Major thanks to David Lambeth who pointed the problem out.
Updated some Ship's Company entries in all 4 volumes. Again, far from being completed.

Tinkered some more with Bill Lowers photo collection web gallery. Took out the annoying slide show action.
Added three photos from Dudley Gilbert. They're of 1st division crewmembers from 1945-46. Great photos!

Apologies for not updating the website sooner. Work's been too busy to do anything during lunch and I've been renovating the downstairs at home. Looks great but it's been taking all of my free time. With most of the hard work out of the way I'm looking forward to having a little more free time for keeping up with the website.
Curly Culp donated photos that have been added to the VF-151/161's page, the RF-4B Barricade page, and Around and About the Midway page.
Sam Lindsey III sent in a couple of VF-161 photos from 1970 when the Chargers were on the Coral Sea. The pics are on the VF-151/161 page.
Created a photo gallery of photos that Bill Lowers sent me. You can see them at http://www-personal.umich.edu/~buzznau/bill-lowers/index.html. This is a work in progress as I will make changes and tweaks to it. If you have suggestion to make it better or want to let me know you like or dislike the format please drop me an e-mail.

Created a new page. "Yankee Station" to put stuff I get for the 1972-73 WestPac. I started off with photos and slides that Don Schartz sent me. They include photos of the Christmas 1972 Bob Hope USO show on the flight deck. Thanks Don!

I didn't get everthing done that I had hoped to over the xmas break, but here's a list of what I did get done.
Updated AirWing and Ship's Company Muster Bars as of 24 December 2001 and created Volume 4 for the AirWings and Ship's Co. There's a few new ones that aren't in there yet. Give me another week to get them in there.
Created a page for Air Group 2 and it's squadrons. Some of it is still in work.
Added exerpts from the 1965 Cruise Book thanks to Bill Bernhardt.
Created a page for squadrons that were frequent flyers on the Midway or just visiting.
Started a Frequently Asked Questions page for the Midway. If you think something should be added please let me know.
I still have photos and other submissions that fellow shipmates have sent me that aren't on the website yet. I apologize it's taken so long. The stuff I did over the holiday break took longer than I thought and I still didn't get it all done. I'm still working on it though and hope to get caught up with that stuff next!

Loaded some great pictures sent to me by Bob Kampel. They include the Midway with escort, unrep, nice shot from a helo off the port bow, and the lighting crew all on the Around and About The Midway page. Also some photos of VF-151, VF-161, HC-1, and VAW-115 all on their respective pages. Thanks Bob!

Just got back from 10 days off. Nice vacation, but kept pretty busy. Good news is it looks like I'm going to be an aircraft owner real soon now. If everything works out well during the annual inspection this week I should be the proud pilot/owner of a Piper Tripacer N4453A. Other than that we're getting new siding put on the house and a lot of other improvements. Just enough to keep us real busy.

Started work on a new Ship's Co. Vol 3 and put out what I have done so far. I still have about 200 more to add. If you don't see yourself and you submitted a new request for Ship's Co. wait until I announce that I'm caught up to resend your info.
Haven't started on Air Wing Vol 3 yet. I will as soon I have Ship's Co. caught up.

Considering changing the Muster Bars. This may take some time to do depending on how I do this. If it becomes too much of a pain then I'm just going to update the existing Muster Bar pages.
I have a ton of new photos and stuff to add. Hoping to get a lot of it online before the end of the week.

Well, Happy New Year's to all. Last year I wasn't able to spend nearly as much time on the web site as I would have liked but a lot happpened with us in 2000. Melanie and I had a great vacation early in the year at Cancun. Shortly afterwards my Mom passed away from a longtime illness. My brother and sister and I flew down and spent a few day's with our Dad. We were all saddened by the loss. Melanie and I went to St. Augustine to visit my Dad a month later and as always, had a very good time there. After we got back I took my checkride for my private pilot's certificate and passed! It was a great moment for me as this is something I've always wanted. We took several cross country trips around the state and look forward to more flying this year when I get my taildragger signoff and we rent the Maule. During the summer we put up a sunroom addition to the back of the house. We couldn't have done it without Garry's help. It came out great and we're looking forward to using it a lot this summer. My best friend Dave and his family came up for a visit and we were able to go flying. He's taking lessons now and should have his ticket in the next month or so. I think we had a couple of weeks to relax and then Kelsea was born October 2nd. Since then our little world has revolved tightly around her. She's three months old now and doing something new everyday!
Over the holiday break I did get some stuff done to the pages. I revamped the main home page a little. I know it doesn't look like much but I'm trying out Dreamweaver for web editing and still trying to figure a few things out. It'll take me a while to get used to it. I created a new page as a directory to different photo groups. Check it out and tell me how you like it.
Another change that I hope people don't notice is I went through all of the photos and optimized them for web use. This cleared up a lot of disk usage on the site and on my system I don't notice a lot of degradation. If you think any of the photos look like crap let me know which ones and what resolution/color depth your system is set to. That'll help.
Didn't do any updates to the muster bars. Sorry guys. I'm going to try and get that done at work during lunch. Hopefully I'll get it all caught up in a couple of weeks. Cheers! Buzz
