Monday May 14 7:55 AM ET School Principal Fired for Burning Hamster TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's Education Ministry has fired a school principal who set fire to a hamster in the playground, the official IRNA news agency reported on Saturday. The headmistress flew into a rage when she found the rodent inside the school and burned it alive in full view of students, IRNA said. A teacher had brought in the pet to give away as a prize to one of her pupils, it added. The agency did not say when and where the incident took place but reported that an Iranian animal rights society had on Tuesday filed a complaint against the principal. The society also asked the Education Ministry to run mandatory psychological tests for all teachers at state schools. Copyright 2001 Reuters Limited.
