Escaped chimp drinks himself unconscious with beer Fire officers recaptured a runaway chimpanzee in Hungary by getting him drunk on beer. Johnny was one of two chimps who escaped when their cage door was left open. The other chimp was knocked out after running into a glass door. The chimps had attacked a 60-year-old woman who tried to push their door closed when she realised they were escaping. They then wrestled with a man who tried to grab them in Budapest. Johnny accepted beer from the firemen and drank until he passed out. He was then carried back to his cage to sleep off the effects. The other chimp, Zsiga, tried to run into a block of flats, not noticing it had a glass door. The chimps' trainer, Lajos Korosi, said: "They both have very sore heads and we are leaving them to take their bad tempers out on each other for a few days. I think in future they may decide to stay put if the cage door is left open." Police are now looking for the person who removed the lock from the chimps' cage. Copyright 2001 Ananova Ltd
