1843 Samuel's brother-in-law, Elah Dennis, learned the trade of wagon-making in
North Woodbury and worked with Samuel Hoffman.
1850 On April 17, John Ruhl and wife Susannah and Morgan Levering and wife
Mary sold lots #25-27 in Woodbury, Morrow Co, Ohio to Samuel Hoffman.
1850 Samuel age 27, a wagonmaker with estate valued at $900, and Lucinda age
29, born MD, lived in Perry Twp, Morrow Co, Ohio with children Mary C age 4
and Martin L and Allen M age 4 months (census is dated 12 Aug). The children
were born in Ohio.
1851 Samuel Hoffman sold 71 acres of land in section 1, range 15, township7,
to John (perhaps his brother) Hoffman (recorded 1852).
1857 S Hoffman owned 60 acres in section 20 of Perry Twp, Morrow Co, Ohio, as
shown on an 1857 platt map.
1860 Samuel age 37, a farmer with estate valued at $3000+$700, and Lucinda age
39, born PA, lived in Perry Twp, Morrow Co, Ohio with children Mary C age 14
and M Luther age 10, Sarah age 8, Ziegly age 4, Franklin age 3, and Jacob age
1. The children were born in Ohio. Samuel's estate was valued at $800.
Living with them were Samuel and Catherine Dennis, both age 65 and born in MD.
These were likely Lucinda's parents.
1870 Samuel age 48, a farmer with estate valued at $4000+$200, and Lucinda age
50, born MD, lived in Perry Twp, Morrow Co, Ohio with children Luther age 20,
Swingley age 15, Franklin age 13, Jacob age 10, and Sarah E age 18. In the
same household were Elizabeth Hoffman age 35 born OH and apparent children
Emmerson age 10, Albro age 8, Flora age 5 and Floris (male) age 4. Their Post
Office was in Lexington, Richland Co, Ohio.
1880 Samuel age 57, a farmer, and Lucinda age 59, born MD, lived in Perry Twp,
Morrow Co, Ohio with children Luther age 29, Swingly age 24, Frank age 23, and
Jacob age 21.
1890 Samuel Hoffman died 22 Feb in Columbus, Residence: Perry Twp, Born: York
Co. PA, due to gang. lungs.
1890 Lucinda Hoffman died 30 Dec in Perry Twp, Residence: Leverings, Born:
Maryland, cause apoplexy.
1890 Samuel was buried at St. John's Cemetery, Perry Twp, Morrorw Co, Ohio.
