York County, p 14)

Shrewsbury Twp in 1783.
1790 census A Henry Rule lived in Shrewsbury Twp, York Co, PA. In the
household are 1 male age 16+ (Henry), 1 male under age 16 (son Johannes or
John Jacob, the listing of just one son suggests that Jacob had died by 1790),
and 3 females (wife Margaret and daughters Elizabeth and Susanna? This
suggests that Susanna was born before 1790). (column 2, bottom of page)
1800 census Henry Ruhl age 26-45 lived in Shrewsbury Twp, York Co, PA with
wife age 26-44, 3 males under age 10 (Henry, Michael, and Jacob), 1 male age
10-15 (Johannes, John Jacob would have been age 17, so he has apparently
died), 2 females under age 10 (Eva and Susanna?, this suggests that Susanna
was born after 1790), and 1 female age 10-15 (Elizabeth?). Henrys father and
mother ages 45+ are listed on the prior page. Michael, Jacob, John,
Elizabeth, Lorentz, and Catharine Klinefelter and George, John, and Jacob
Bailey (possibly Margarets aunts and uncles) are listed on adjacent pages.
Daniel Bailey age 26-44 (possibly a cousin of Margaret) is listed on the same
page. On the same page is Abraham Rever. On the prior page are Rudisill and
Stambaugh and John Raber (likely the same families living by Johan Adam
Hoffman in 1810) and several Rohrbach families.
1802 Henry received "Pleasant Ridge" from his father in 1802, which he later
deeded to his son, Johannes, on 26 Jan 1811, along with the tract of 2Q,299
supra, which was patented to Henry on 25 June 1810. (Source: Dull, Early
Settlers)

another male age 45+, 2 males age 10-16 (Michael and Jacob), 1 male age 0-9
(Samuel), 1 female age 26-44 (Margaret, who would be age 46?), 1 female age
16-25 (Elizabeth or Susanna?), and 3 females age 0-9 (Eva, Magdalene, and
Lydia?). On the prior page were Frederick Rule (possibly his father?) and
Peter Rule. John Rule age 16-25 (likely Henrys son) lived with wife and
another male age 16-25 (possibly Henrys son Henry).
1820 census A Henry Ruhle age 45+, perhaps this one, lived in Shrewsbury Twp,
York Co, PA with 2 males 19-26 (Jacob and ?), 1 age 10-16 (Lydia), 2 age
16-26, and 2 age 45+ (Margaret should be 56 by now). One person was engaged
in manufacture, none in agriculture.

with 2 males age 10-16 (), 1 male 19-26 (), 1 male 26-45 (), 3 females age

wife age 16-26 and male age 26-45 and male age 16-26.

Henry settled in Sandusky Twp, Richland Co. (Source: Dull, Early Settlers)
1830 Henry's will, dated January 5, was reported to the court on March 2 by
sons Michael and Jacob, who were named executors. Named as heirs were Henry's
wife Margaret, daughter Betsy Gerberich, daughter Polly Rule, daughter Eve's
sons John and Isaac Nunemaker, sons John and Michael and Jacob, daughter
Lydia, and daughter Susanna Hoffman. Christian Snyder, Adam Ashcraft, and
Henry Harshinger were named as appraisers of the estate. Michael and Jacob
Ruhl were named as being of Sandusky Twp. The estate was settled by 9 March.
Adam Hoffman (possible son-in-law) owed the estate $266.66 at the time of
death of Henry. John Gerberich (possible son-in-law) was also named in the
accounts. (original copy available).
1830 census Margaret was aged 60-70 and lived in Sandusky Twp, Richland Co,
Ohio. Michael, Jacob, and Henry Rhule (perhaps sons) were listed on the same
