1886 Josie Belville and Osmon T Smith were married in Montpelier, Vermont, on September 5 by J. Edward Wright, Minister. Josie lived in Elmore, Vermont, was age 18 years, and was born in Morrisville. Her parents were Lewis Belville and Mary (Nort). Osman lived in Morrisville, was age 28 years, and was born in Moretown, Vermont. His parents were William F. Smith and May (Allen). [1] [2]

1888 Osman Smith died of consumption on September 25 in Moretown, Vermont at age 36 years, 1 month, and 15 days. He was a farmer, maried, and his parents were William Smith and Mary. [3]

1890 Son Harvey Prescott Ladd was born on January 5. [4] Harvey's marriage record (26 May 1917, to Bernice Viola Mark) lists his parents as William Ladd and Josie Belville. [5]

1894 Josie Smith, age 23, and William Courtney, age 42, were married on 8 February in Eden, Vermont. They were both residents of Eden, and this was a second marriage for both. Josie was born in Elmore, Vermont, and her parents were Lewis and Mary (Noe). William was a farmer. He was born in Chelsea and his parents were Patrick and Louisa (Sanborn). [6] [7]

1900 On June 1, William Courtney (age 50) and his wife Josie Courtney (age 30) lived in Eden Twp, Lamoille County, Vermont, with son Harvey L. (age 10), daughters Doris (age 5), Ora (age 4), and Lulu (age 2), and son Dana (age 1). William Courtney was born in Vermont in Dec 1849, and his parents were both born in Vermont. His occupation was day laborer. Josie was born in February 1870 in Vermont, and her parents were both born in Vermont. She had had 5 children and all were living. William and Josie had been married 6 years. All of the children were born in Vermont, Harvey in January 1890, Doris in January 1895, Ora in April 1896, Lulu in May 1898, and Dana in May 1899. [8]

1915 Josie Belville Courtney died of pneumonia in Brightlook Hospital in St. Johnsbury, Vermont on August 5, where she had been a patient for 6 days. Her usual residence was Morrisville, Vermont, and she was married. She was born on 9 February 1870 and was 45 years, 5 months, and 26 days old. Her parents were Lewis Belville and Mary Noux, both listed as born in France. [9]
