Notes for Christian Rohrer, son of Johannes Rohrer and Elizabeth Snavely. There were several men named Christian Rohrer living in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County during this time period. We seek further evidence to distinguish these families. [1] [2]

Christian Rohrer, born 10-23-1741 in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County and died 7-19-1804 in the same place, is listed with spouse named Maria Forrer/Ferree [3]. He has also been reported as a son of Johannes Jakob Rohrer and Anna Maria Souder with spouse Catherine (Neff).

1763 Christian Rora was taxed as a freeman in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [4]

1769 Christian Rorea (100 acres) was taxed in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [5] [6]

1770 Christian Rorea (100 acres) was taxed in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [7] [8]

1771 Christian Rorea (100 acres) was taxed in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [9] [10]

1771 Christian Rorea (100 acres) was taxed in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [11]

1772 Christian Rorah (100 acres) was taxed in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [12] [13] [14]

1772 The will of John Rohrer was dated on May 18, 1772 and was proved on June 17, 1772 in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The will named wife Elizabeth and children John, Isaac, and Christian. Executors were Jacob Hartman and John Witmer. An excerpt indicates that his wife Elizabeth was granted a room in their house and was guaranteed resources for her needs. The land was divided between sons Isaac and Christian, who paid the other children annually until the value of the land was paid. Isaac received the part of the land with the house on it. A new house was built on the other part for Christian. [15] [16] [17] [18] [19]

The 18th day of May 1772, I, John Rohrer of Lampeter Township in the County of Lancaster being weak of body but of sound memory and understanding and am therefore willing to make my last will and testament in manner following: - First it is my will that all my just debts in the first place shall be paid out of my estate. Item I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Elizabeth for her dwelling place and widowhood the new house and cellar and the thereto adjoining garden as her own property to live in and use it as her own and besides this my two sons Isaac and Christian shall give and deliver unto her yearly as follows viz: - [20]

1773 The executors Jacob Hartman and John Witmer appointed four men to view and value the lands given by John Rohrer, deceased of Lampeter Twp, to his sons Isaac and Christian.

1773 The estate settlement of John Rohrer, late of Lampeter twp, was recorded in a deed. A committee, appointed by executors Jacob Hartman and John Witmer, and two sons: Isaac Rohrer and Christian Rohrer. On April 22, the land was valued and Isaac and Christian were each to pay 40 pounds yearly to their brothers and sisters (not named), to be divided among them. Dated April 22. [21]

1773 Several Rohrer men were named on the tax list including Christian Sr (100 acres) and Christian (125 acres) Rohrea were taxed in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [22] [23]

1776 Christian and Christian Jr Rora were taxed in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [24]

1777 Christian Mill Creek Rora and Christian Rora were taxed in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [25] [26]

1779 Several Rohrer men were named on the tax list. John (? acres), Christly (100 acres), Christian (120 acres), Jacob (? acres), and Isaac (100 acres) Rora were taxed in West Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [27] [28]

1779 Widow Rorer, perhaps Elizabeth, was taxed in Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County for 100 acres, 2 horses, and 6 cattle. [29] [30]

1779 Widow Rorar was listed on the septennial census for Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [31]

1779 Christian Rohrer was reported married to a daughter of Jacob Stoner of Conestoga Twp. [32]

1781 Christian Rohrer was listed in John Sleter's Company in the First Battalion of the Lancaster County Militia. [33] [34]

1782 Several descendants were named on the tax list. John (141 acres), Christian Jr (100 acres), Christian Sr (127 acres), Jacob (150 acres), and Isaac (100 acres) Rohrer [Rora] were taxed in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [35]

1787 The will of Elizabeth Rohrer, of Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, was written in German. On May 24, Jacob Hartman and Jacob Stouffer affirmed that they had witnessed Elizabeth Rohrer sign and seal the will. Letters of administration were granted to John Stouffer on May 24, 1788. She named children Isaac, Christian, Henry, David, Magdalena, and John. [36] [37] [38]

1790 Christian Rorer lived in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in a household with 4 males under age 16, 2 males age 16 and over, and 3 females. [39] Christ Rohrer (3 males over age 16) lived in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania was listed on the same census page. Jacob Rorrer, John Rorrer, and John Rorrer Jr were listed on another page.

1798 There were several direct tax listings. Christ Rohrer was listed with land and Christ Rohrer, son of Jacob, was a tenant of land of Jacob Rohrer, both with 88 acres. Christn Rohrer Sr had 123 acres and Christian Rohrer was a tenant on land of Christian Rohrer Sr with 50 acres. [40]

1800 There were three census listings. Jr and Sr were listed on the same page near Jacob Rohrer and several Forrer families. Christian was listed adjacent to Jacob Rohrer Sr.

1800 Christian Rohrer Sr lived in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (45 and over); and females: 1 (under 10), 1 (10 thru 15), 1 (16 thru 25), and 1 (45 and over). [41]

1800 Christian Rohrer Jr lived in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 2 (under 10), 1 (10 thru 15), and 1 (26 thru 44); and females: 1 (under 10), 1 (10 thru 15), and 1 (26 thru 44). [42]

1800 Christian Rohrer lived in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (under 10), 1 (10 thru 15), and 1 (26 thru 44); and females: 1 (under 10) and 2 (16 thru 25). [43]
