Notes for William Webster

1502-03 William Webster of Syston, butcher, became a freeman of Leicester. [1] Becoming a freeman "enabled him to sell his meat in Leicester without paying a heavy toll. It also laid upon him responsibilities, notably those of fair trading and of contributing a resonable amount to the borough expenses." [2]

1535-36 William "Wybster" was deleted from the rolls of the freemen of Leicester. [3]
