Notes for John Road

1794 Anthony Stormbach and wife Anna (daughter of Peter Road [Rode], late of Strasburg Twp, Lancaster County) of Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County; released Anna's brother John Rode for Anna's share of her inheritance upon his payment of 150 pounds. The two tracts with 208 acres in Hanover Twp, Dauphin County, were bequeathed to John Rode by his father Peter. [1]

1786 Anna Brand, widow of Joseph Brand, deceased, late of Paxton Twp, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, and John Brand and Freny his wife & Joseph Brand & Samuel Brand all of the same state and John Oberholtser & Elizabeth his wife & John Gingery & Freny his wife both of the township of Lebanon & Christian Good & Barbara his wife and Samuel Good & Mary his wife and Abraham Brand all of the township of Brecknock in the county of Lancaster & John Roads & Catharina his wife and Magdalena Brand and Susanna Brand & Regina Brand, of one part and Christian Swartz of the township of Paxton, Dauphin County of the other part, were parties to a deed dated March 1. Joseph Brand, deceased, had purchased land from Samuel and Andrew Hannah in 1766. Joseph died intestate and the tract became property of the widow and children of Joseph, parties to the deed, to wit: Anna Brand the widow of the late Joseph Brand, John Brand, Joseph Brand, Samuel Brand, John Oberholser who married Elizabeth one of the daughters, John Gingery who married Freny another daughter, Christian Good who married Barbara another daughter, Abraham Brand, John Road who married Catharina another daughter, Magdalena Brand, Susanna Brand, and Regina Brand. Christian Swartz purchased the tract from the heirs. The tract was bounded by lands of Alexander McClure, John Neisly, Richard McClure, Henry McKinsey, James Harris, John Means?, James Lusk (now Patrick Lusk). Affirmed before the clerk by John Neisly and others and by several of the parties to the deed in in 1792. In 1795, John Eirely and Regina his wife, late Brand, appeared. [2]
