1818 Leonard Wise was born. [1]

Leonard Wise married Mary Plank. [2]

1843 Samuel Plank [perhaps Mary's father], and several others, supported the application of Philip Brechbill for a tavern license in South Middleton township, cumberland County. [3]

1847 Leonard Wise was taxed as a freeholder in South Middleton, Cumberland County with 45 acres of seated land. [5]

1848 Leonard Wise Jr and wife Mary, sold 6 acres of land in Adams County, to Samuel Johnson. Dated May 31. The property had been purchased from the estate of Leonard Wise Sr in 1847. [6]

1850 Leonard Wise, farmer, was taxed for a 2 story log house and 42 acres in South Middleton Twp, Cumberland County. [7]

1850 Leonard Wise Jr lost, due to debt, the farm that he had inherited from his father, Leonard Wise Sr. Leonard Wise Jr sold the land in South Middleton, Cumberland County. On March 8, Leonard Wise Jr and Mary, his wife, entered into an agreement with Jacob Ritner. Whereas the said Leonard Weise owing to sundry ? and misfortune is at present unable to discharge his just debt, and is willing to assign all his property for the benefit of creditors...Leonard and wife...for the purpose of making a just distribution of the estate and effects among the creditors of the said Leonard also of the sum of one dollar to them in hand paid by the said Jacob Ritner the receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged ... do assign unto the said Jacob Ritner all that plantation or tract of land situate in South Middleton... 1850 Leonard Wise (age 32) and Mary Wise (age 25) lived in South Middleton, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania with children Sarah Ann (age 3) and Mary A (age 5 months). Leonard's sister Rebecca McLaughlin and two children also lived with them. [10] [11]

1860 Leonard Wise (age 41) and Margaret (Liggett)(age 26) lived in Carrol Twp, York County, Pennsylvania with children Rebecca (age 13), Mary (age 10), and Franklin (age 2). [12] [13]

1868 Leonard Wise died.

1870 Margaret Weise (age 35, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Silver Spring, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, at post office New Kingston, with Michael Echard (age 40), John Mcquah (age 17), Charles Weise (age 6), and Eliza J Weise (age 10). [14] Their son Lewis Wise (age 12) lived in the same township in the household of Michael Grider.

1878 Elizabeth Wise, widow of Leonard, lived at the N E cor High and Locust, Mechanicsburg, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [15]

1880 Charles Wise (age 14, born in Pennsylvania), single, was a servant in the household of John R Albright in East Pennsborough, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania (father born in Pennsylvania and mother born in Pennsylvania). [16]

1880 Eliza J . Wise (age 20, born in Pennsylvania), single, Domestic Servant, lived in Silver Springs, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania (father born in Pennsylvania and mother born in Pennsylvania). [17]

Research Notes:

A biosketch of Mary Plank's brother, Benjamin Plank (born 17 October, 1827) reports that Mary Plank, daughter of Samuel Plank and Sarah Bechtold, married Leonard Wise. Mary was deceased before 1897, when the report was published. The Plank family lived in South Middleton Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [18]

1880 The estate of Samuel Plank was settled. No heirs were named. [19]
