Notes for Roger Corbet

Keats-Rohan states, [1]

Roger Corbet
Norman, brother of Robert (q.v.), tenant of Earl Roger in Shropshire in succession to their father Corbet (Ord. Vit. ii, 272). His holdings were afterwards known as the barony of Cause. He was a benefactor of Shrewsbury abbey, as were his sons Everard and Simon, according to Henry II's confirmation charter (Cart. no. 36 p. 42). Apparently succeeded c. 1121 by a son Robert, see Sanders, 29. According to L. Musset, 'Administration et Justice', Cahiers des annales de Normandie no. 17 (1985), 147, the family probably came from the region of Boitron and Essay, near Sées, Orne.
