Notes for Samuel Good

1727 Samuel Gut had 2 persons in his party when he left with Peter Gutt and other Mennonites from Mannheim, Germany on 20 May 1727. [1]

1727 Samuel Good and Petter Good arrived in Philadelphia on the ship Molly. [2] [3]

1727 Peder Gut and Samuel Gut were on the list of arrivals in Philadelphia, on September 30. [4] The original signatures of Peder Gut and Samuel Gut are on the left hand column of the ship list [5]

1734 Joseph LeChaar and Samuel Goode warranted 172 acres of land on Cocalico Creek, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, on February 27. The land was surveyed on April 19, 1736. [6] Adjacent tracts were warranted to Christian Stoner [7] John Landus [8], and Christopher Westerberry [9].

1745 Part of the tract warranted in 1734 was divided off to Michael Foutz. [10]

1757 Samuel Good married twice. His first wife died in 1757 and was called "Samuel Gut's Helpmate" in her death record which is recorded in the Ephrata Community death register. Her name was not recorded. His second wife's name was Anna (d. about 1795) and she had three children named John, Henry, and Jacob Scheibly by her first husband. [11]

1777 The will of Samuel Guth of Earl Twp, Lancaster County, in German, was probated on February 5. Martin Myer and Michale Frantz were executors. [12] An abstract reports date August 12, 1776 with probate February 5, 1777. Wife: Anne. Children: Anna, Catharine and Barbara. Step-children: John, Henry and Jacob Sheibly. Ex.: Martin Mayer. [13]

1795 Henry Sheibly received money on September 25, for maintaining Anna Good, widow of Samuel Good, late of Earl Twp for a number of years. [14]

Research Notes:

Jane Best has suggested that Samuel and Peter Good, who arrived on the same ship Molly, were brothers. [15] [16]

Daughter Anna has been reported to be Anna [17], wife of Peter Neff. We seek evidence to clarify the link between Anna Good, daughter of Samuel Good and Anna, wife of Peter Neff.
