He died of his wounds September 12 and was buried at Mt. Olive Cemetery. His future son-in-law William J. DeFoor was at his side when he was wounded).

1899 Anna Oliphant Waters Pence died on July 28 and was buried at Cohutta Cemetery, Gilmer County, Georgia. Anna Oliphant Waters Pence was born on December 25, 1825. [5] [6]
Records differ as to whether her middle name was Olivet or Olivent. Her middle name may actually have been "Oliphant" which was her grandmother's maiden name.
She was the daughter of Henry Abner and Ferabee/Feraby Tate Waters
