1844 Ann Olive A Waters and Leroy Pence were married on March 24 in Gilmer County, Georgia. [1]

1860 Leroy Pence (age 36, born in Georgia) lived in Subdivision 33, Gilmer County, Georgia, in a household with Martha E Pence (age 5), Gilbert A Pence (age 2), Jackson Parish (age 26), Ann D Pence (age 32), Frances P Pence (age 14), Mary A Pence (age 13), Thomas H B Pence (age 11), Lucita C Pence (age 10), and Absalom W Pence (age 1). Leroy Pence was a farmer. [2]

1864 Corp Leroy Pence died on September 12 and was buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick County, Maryland. Corp Leroy Pence was born on October 14, 1823.[3] [4]

Leroy Pence was the son of Absolom Pence and Francis M. Calloway-Pence.

During the Civil War Leroy Pence served with Company F 60th Georgia Infantry Regiment. He was wounded in battle and captured at Frederick, MD July 10, 1864. He died of his wounds September 12 and was buried at Mt. Olive Cemetery. His future son-in-law William J. DeFoor was at his side when he was wounded).

1899 Anna Oliphant Waters Pence died on July 28 and was buried at Cohutta Cemetery, Gilmer County, Georgia. Anna Oliphant Waters Pence was born on December 25, 1825. [5] [6]

Records differ as to whether her middle name was Olivet or Olivent. Her middle name may actually have been "Oliphant" which was her grandmother's maiden name.

She was the daughter of Henry Abner and Ferabee/Feraby Tate Waters

Married Leroy Pence March 24, 1844 in Gilmer Co. Georgia.

On her tombstone her date of birth is inscribed December 25, 1825 but in her application for a Civil War pension she stated the date was December 20, 1822.
