1807 William Cochran, of Lincoln County, North Carolina, gave power of attorney to brother Robert Cochran, of Rutherford County, in order to recover from Henry Slinkard, whatever is due from the estate of their father. Dated December 8, 180?. [1]

1784 On 1 October, William Cochran, late a private in Burns regiment Sumpters Brigade State Troops, received pay. [2]
1820 William Cockram was listed in Rutherford County, North Carolina, with no inhabitants. [3]
1830 William Cockran lived in Rutherford County, North Carolina in a household with males: 1 (20 thru 29); and females: 1 (under 5) and 1 (20 thru 29). [4] Successive entries in the census were for Robert, John, William, Robert Jr, and Reid Cochran.
1865 Juston Cochran died in Buncombe County leaving minor heirs Justin and Harriet.[5]
1869 Moses Cochran petitioned the probate court for a share as brother of land of Justin Cochran (died about 24 Dc 1863) and Hariett Cochran (died February 1868). The court ruled that Moses Cochran was entitled to one fifth share. William Cochran, Washington Cochran, Mahulda Ruth wife of John Ruth deceased, Sarah Cochran, Thomas Baker and wife Letha, Thomas Crook and wife Manervy, Pinkney Jones and wife Justin, Met Cochran, William More and wife Malinda, all heirs of Swain Cochran deceased were also entitled to one fifth share. Riley Rickman and wife Nancy (daughter of Elizabeth Prater and husband E.B. Prater)) one fifth. Joseph Newberry and wife Sophrona and Mary Cochran take the share of (their father) Nathaniel Cochran deceased. Malinda Rodgers, William Rodgers, Hamilton Rodgers, Calton Wilson and wife Salina, the heirs of Scott Murray and Caroline Murray deceased (perhaps heirs of Thomas Rodgers deceased) who are the heirs of Robert Rodgers and wife Clarissa deceased entitled to one fifth share. The land was sold to Met Cochran. [6]

1840 William Cochram lived in Davis Twp, Lumpkin County, Georgia in a household with males: 1 (10 thru 14) and 1 (60 thru 69); and females: 2 (under 5), 1 (5 thru 9), and 1 (30 thru 39). [7]

William Cochran, born 1772-1782. William married Elizabeth Stewart and raised a family of five sons - William, Swan, John Moses, James and Nathaniel; and five daughters - Rebecca, Elizabeth, Clara, Jestin, and Harriett. William was possibly born in Lincoln County, North Carolina; and moved to Buncombe County, North Carolina about 1810. William Cochran passed away on May 14, 1841. Both John Moses and Nathaniel Cochran were members of Company K, Buncombe County Volunteers, and participated in the Cherokee removal of 1838. (There is some dispute amongst researchers as to whether the above information does in fact apply to our William Cochran.)
