Notes for Reuben S. Wolf

1832 Rubin Wolf, child of Christian Wolf and Sarah Wolf, was born on July 30, 1832. He was baptized on October 12, 1832, at Bethany United Church of Christ, Ephrata Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [1] [2]

1850 Ruben Wolf (age 19, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Southampton, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Susan Sponsler (age 36), Caroline Wolf (age 20), and Anna Mary (age 2 months). Ruben Wolf was a cabinet maker. [3]

1853 Christian Wolff, of South Middleton Twp, Cumberland County, dated his will on April 21. He made bequests to his wife Sarah and 14 children: Catherine, intermarried with Jenkin Lewis; Susan, intermarried with William Dean; Adam Wolf; Christian Wolf; John Wolf; Jacob Wolf; Rebecca (now a widow); Elizabeth, intermarried with John Youndt; George Wolf; Sarah intermarried with Henry Mellinger; Maria, intermarried with Lewis Sponsler; Ann Wolf; Ruben Wolf; Edward L Wolf; and to Christian and Mary, children of deceased son Henry. [4]

1858 Reuben Wolf was a member of the Methodist church in Shippensburg, Cumberland, Pennsylvania. [5]

1860 Reuben Wolf (age 28, born in Pennsylvania) and Caroline Wolf (age 29) lived in North Newton Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, with children Henry F Wolf (age 8), Cath C Wolf (age 5), Ellie Wolf (age 3), Emma Wolf (age 10/12), and Monroe Fetter (age 14). Reuben Wolf's occupation was farmer. [6]

1868 Caroline may have died about this time.

1870 Reuben Wolf (age 38, born in Pennsylvania) and Kate Wolf (age 37) lived in Keithsburg Twp, Mercer County, Illinois, with children Henry Wolf (age 19), Kate Wolf (age 15), Ella Wolf (age 14), Emma Wolf (age 11), Agnes Wolf (age 9), Ada Wolf (age 7), and Clara Wolf (age 5). Reuben Wolf's occupation was carpenter. [7]

1880 Rheuben Wolff (age 45, born in Pennsylvania, married) and Catharine Wolff (age 45) lived in Henderson County, Illinois, with children Henry Wolff (age 29), Edward Wolff (age 17), Clara Wolff (age 14), and Elmer Wolff (age 6). Rheuben Wolff's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. Rheuben Wolff's occupation was farmer. [8]

1900 Ruben S Wolf (born in Pennsylvania in Jul 1832, married) and Kate Wolf (age 66) lived in Keithsburg Twp, Mercer County, Illinois. Ruben S Wolf's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. Ruben S Wolf's occupation was farmer. Kate Wolf had had 1 child, 1 still living. [9]

1910 Catharine Wolff (age 76, born in Pennsylvania, married for 40 years), wife, lived in Keithsburg Ward 3, Mercer, Illinois, in a household with Reuben S Wolff (age 77). Catharine Wolff's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. Catharine Wolff could not read or write. [10]

1911 Henry F Wolff, age 59, and Mrs. Jone Powers, age 48 of New Boston Twp, Illinois, were married on February 28 in Des Moines, Iowa. Henry F Wolff was a son of Reuben S Wolff and Caroline Mellinger. [11]

1912 Reuben S. Wolff died on May 26, 1912 and was buried at Keithsburg Greenmound Cemetery Keithsburg, Mercer County, Illinois. [12] [13]

1919 Katherine Mellinger Wolff died on January 4 and was buried at Keithsburg Greenmound Cemetery, Mercer County, Illinois. Katherine Mellinger Wolff was born on February 16, 1834. [14] [15]

A biosketch reported [16]:

Reuben S. Wolff, retired farmer, Keithsburg, Ill.; born in Lancaster County. Penn., July 30, 1832, son of Christian and Sarah (Stoner) Wolff, natives of Lancaster County, Penn. At a later date the family removed to Cumberland, Penn., where the parents died. In the spring of 1870 Reuben S. came to Mercer County, Ill., but after a few months removed to Henderson County, where he farmed for twenty-seven years, and in September, 1897, removed to his present home in Keithsburg. In 1850 he was married to Carolina Mellinger, and to this union twelve children were born, four of whom are living, viz.: Ala, wife of John C. Heath, of Carroll County, Mo.; Emma, wife of James R. Heath, Carroll County, Mo.; Henry, a farmer in Keithsburg Township; Edward L., resides at Guide Rock, Neb. Mrs. Wolff died in 1868, and on Feb. 1, 1870, Mr. Wolff married for his second wife Catherine Wolff, a native of York County, Penn. One child - Elmer J., a farmer in Keithsburg Township - was born of the second marriage. The family are members of the Methodist church. In political opinion Mr. Wolff is a Republican.

1955 Emma L Heath, spouse of James R, died on March 21, at age 95, in Portland, Washington County, Oregon. She was born in 1859 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, daughter of Ruben S Wolff and Caroline Mellinger. [17]
