Notes for Robert de Hardreshull

1262 Robert de Hardreshull, son and heir of William de Hardreshull, was granted seisin of his father's lands. [1]

5 May. Westminster. Concerning relief. Northamptonshire. The king has taken the homage of Robert of Hartshill, son and heir of William of Hartshill, for all lands and tenements which William, his father, held from the king in chief, and he has rendered those lands and tenements to him. Order William de Weilond, the king's escheator on this side of the Trent, that, having accepted security from Robert for rendering 60s. to the king at the Exchequer, namely a moiety at the Exchequer in the quindene of St. John the Baptist next to come and the other moiety in the quindene of Michaelmas next following, he is to cause him to have full seisin without delay of all lands and tenements of which he was seised in his demesne as of fee on the day he died and which have been taken into the king's hand by reason of his death.

1264 On October 28, Robert de Hardreshull and others were granted remittance of "all fees in which they or their ancestors were bound to any of the king's Jews of England" and pardoned "all interest payments and penalties in which they or their ancestors are bound to the same Jews by their charters." [2]

1265 Robert de Hardredeshull died on August 4 at the Battle of Evesham. The susequent inquisition into the lands and tenements of the king's "adversaries and rebels who were manifestly opposed to us in the confusion and war which lately arose in our kingdom" states, [3]

Robert de Hardredesshull, killed at Evesham against the king, held the manor of Hardredeshull, worth 20l. of the fee of Chester. Michaelmas rent 4l. 7s.
