1793 Daniel Dalton was apprenticed to Josiah Emmitt, windsor chairmaker of Alexandria, Virginia, on July 18. [1] [2]

1799 "Josies Emmet, turner; wife Catharine; 2 ch[ildre]n; B&H: Mary Watson, labourer; Daniel Dalton (Dolton) turrer [sic]; Wm. Popejoy, painter S&A: Burle Woodcock Thomas Green Collen Cobbins" were listed in the census of Alexandria Virginia. Ann Dolton, spinster B&H: Susanah Reder (Reader) seempster was in a nearby listing. 1801 Daniel Dalton married Margaret Emmett on June 11 at the Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, D.C. (now Virginia), the same church where Daniel's sister Anne had married Alexander Reed in 1795. [4]
