"William Heyr held lands in the town of Hope, by the services of keeping the forest of High Peak in Hopdale." [Esch Anno, 26 Edw 1Harl. Ms. Brit. Mus. No 2037, p 42][1]

1300 December 4. "Order to the same to take into the king's hand the lands late of William le Heyr of Hope, deceased, tenant in chief." [2]

c 1300 [28 Edw I] "Willielmus le Eyr alias Heyr, de Hope. Inq p.m. Robertus Le Heyr 'filius dicti Willielmi' est propinquior haeres ejus, et est de aetate triginta annorum et amplius. [Vide Rot. Fin. 28 Edw. I. m.8]" [3]

1300 December 28. "William le Eyr alias le Heyr, of Hope. Writ, 4 Dec. 28 Edw. I. Derby. Inq. 3 Feb. 28 Edw. I. Hope. A bovate of land held of the king in chief by service of keeping the king's forest of High Peak in Hopedale in person. He held no other lands. Robert his son, aged 30 and more, is his next heir."
