1834 Martin A. Hoover, future second husband of Elizabeth R. Good, was born on September 20 near Apple Creek, Wayne County, Ohio, where he lived until 1854.

1850 Elizabeth Good was born on October 18. [1] [2]

1854 At the age of 20 years, Martin Hoover moved with his parents to Clinton Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana.

1860 Beneville Benjamin and Margaret Good lived in Elkhart County, Indiana with children Israel (age 18), Lydia A (age 15), Isiah (age 13), Elizabeth (age 9), Sarah (age 7), Elisha (age 6), Saphona (age 4), and Jacob (age 2). [3] [4]

1860 Martin Hoover and Margaret Musser were married and settled in Clinton Twp. To this union were born ten children, three daughters and seven sons, of whom Catharine Witmer, of Mahoning County, Ohio, William A. Hoover, of Harrison Twp, and Enos Hoover, of Baugo Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana, are the only survivors (alive when Martin's obituary was written).

1870 Benjamin Hartman (age 24, born in Illinois), future first husband of Elizabeth R. Good, lived in Washington, Tazewell County, Illinois, in a household with Agnes Hartman (age 55), Emanuel Hartman (age 21), Sarah Hartman (age 22), and John Bolick (age 10). Benjamin Hartman was a farmer. [5]

1870 Martin Hoover moved from Clinton to Harrison Twp, where he lived to the time of his death.

1873 Elizabeth Good and Benjamin Hartman were married on January 14, in Elkhart County, Indiana by Jacob Wisler. [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12]

1873 Peter Hartman was born on December 8 in Illinois, son of Benjamin Hartman and Lizzie Hartman. Peter Hartman, never married (single), died on November 25, 1958, at age 84, in Goshen, Elkhart County, Indiana. [13]

1874 Benjamin Hartman died on October 22 and was buried at Union Cemetery, Washington, Tazewell County, Illinois. Benjamin Hartman was born on September 22, 1844. [14] [15] [16]

1875 Martin Hoover was ordained as a minister of the Mennonite Church on November 2. [17]

1880 Elisabeth Hartman (age 29) and son Peter Hartman (age 6) in Nappanee, Elkhart County, Indiana with her brothers Elisha Good (age 26), sawmiller, and Jacob Good (age 23) and Henry Hartman (age 23). [18] [19]

1880 Martin A. Hoover (age 45, born in Ohio, married) lived in Harrison Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana, in a household with Margret Hoover (age 46), Catharine Hoover (age 18), William Hoover (age 14), Enos Hoover (age 10), and Martin Musser (age 73). Martin A. Hoover's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. Martin A. Hoover's occupation was farming. [20]

1882 Martin Hoover's first wife Margaret Musser died.

1884 Martin Hoover and Elizabeth [Good] Hartman were married on January 8, at Elkhart County, Indiana. [21] [22]

1885 Clayton C. Hoover, son of Martin A. Hoover and Elizabeth Good, was born on March 2 in Elkhart County, Indiana. [23]

1886 Walter Hoover was born on August 6 in Goshen, Harrison Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana, son of Martin A Hoover and Elizabeth Good. [24]

1890 Martin A Hoover, perhaps Elizabeth's husband, lived at Harrison, as listed in the directory for Elkhart, Indiana.

1891 Elva May Hoover was born on April 2, 1891, in Elkhart County, Indiana, daughter of Martin A Hoover and Elizabeth Hoover. Elva May Hoover, single, died on January 29, at age 27, in Elkhart County, Indiana. [25]

1895 The will of Martin A. Hoover was dated on November 1 in Harrison Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana. The will named wife Elizabeth Hoover, daughter Catherine Witmer, sons William A Hoover and Enos M Hoover, Peter Hartman son of wife, and Martin's children Catharine Witmer, William A Hoover, Enos M Hoover, Clayton C Hoover, Walter D Hoover, and Elva Hoover. The will was in probate on November 30, 1895. [26] [27]

1895 Martin A Hoover died on November 26 and was buried at Yellow Creek Frame Cemetery, Southwest, Elkhart County, Indiana. [28] [29] [30]

1895 An obituary for Martin Hoover reported [31]:

Martin A Hoover was born near Apple Creek, Wayne Co., Ohio, Sept. 20th, 1834, where he lived until 1854, when, at the age of 20 years, he moved with his parents to Clinton Twp., Elkhart Co., Ind.

In 1860 he was married to Margaret Musser and settled in Clinton Twp. To this union were born ten children, three daughters and seven sons, of whom Catharine Witmer, of Mahoning Co., Ohio, William A. Hoover, of Harrison Twp., and Enos Hoover, of Baugo Twp., Elkhart Co., Ind., are the only survivors.

In 1870 he removed from Clinton to Harrison Twp., where he resided to the time of his death.

His first wife Margaret Musser died in 1882, and in 1884 he married as his second wife Elizabeth Hartman, whose maiden name was Good. To this union were born three children, two sons and one daughter, all of whom are still living.

He united with the Mennonite church thirty-six years ago, and in 1875 he was chosen and ordained to the ministry. He was a faithful member of the church, and discharged the solemn duties of his office as a minister to the best of his ability until the Lord called him away from the trials and the toils of this earthly life to the realities of the life to come. He died Nov. 26th, 1895, aged 61 years, 2 months and 6 days.

During his last illness he suffered very severely from a complication of diseases for a number of weeks, all of which he bore with patience and resignation to the will of the Lord, and looked forward to the hour of his departure, having a desire to depart and be with Christ which is far better. He was buried at the Yellow Creek M. H. on Nov. 29th, where funeral services were conducted by C. Bear, Michael Shirk and Martin Ramer, from the text, Rev. 14: 13.

1898 The estate of Margaret Good was settled on May 6, in Elkhart County, Indiana, with payment of $113.05 to each of 10 surviving children: Sarah Good, Margaret M. Parsons, Jacob B. Good, Elisha W. Good, Israel Good, Isaiah R. Good, Elizabeth Hoover, Frances Moyer, Mary A. Behler, and Lydia A. Lehman. [Elkhart courthouse, Goshen, Indiana]

1900 Elizebeth Hoover (age 49, birthdate Sep 1850, born in Indiana), widowed, head, lived in Harrison, Elkhart County, Indiana (father born in Indiana and mother born in Indiana) with Clayton Hoover (age 15), Peter Hoover (age 26), Walter Hoover (age 13), and Elva Hoover (age 9). She had had 4 children, 4 of them still living. [32]

1906 Clayton C Hoover, age 21, and Dorothy B Hess were married on June 20 in Indiana. Clayton C Hoover, son of Martin A Hoover and Elizabeth Good, was born on 2 Mar 1885 in Elkhart, Indiana. [33] [34]

1910 Lizzie Hoover (age 59, born in Indiana), widowed, mother, Own Income, lived in Harrison, Elkhart County, Indiana (father born in Indiana and mother born in Indiana) with son Peter Hartman (age 36), and Elva Hoover (age 19), half-sister of Peter. Lizzie had had 4 (or 6 or 8) children, 4 of them still living. [35]

1918 Probate records for Elizabeth Hoover name heirs Peter Hartman, Clayton Hoover (Andover, Ohio), Walter Hoover (114 Riley Ave, Indianapolis), and Elva Hoover (deceased). [36]

1918 Elizabeth R. Hoover, widow, daughter of Benivill Good and Margaret Reed, died on February 23 at Harrison Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana. [37] [38]

1918 Elizabeth [Good Hartman] Hoover died in the Flu epidemic of 1918. She is buried between her 2nd husband Martin A. Hoover and her son from her first marriage, Peter Hartman in the Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, Goshen, Indiana. [39] [40] [41]

1918 "Mr. and Mrs. John Moyer and Elisha Good attended the funeral of Mrs. Martin Hoover at Goshen Tuesday." [42] [43]

1958 Peter Hartman, never married (single), died on November 25, at age 84, in Goshen, Elkhart County, Indiana. He was born on December 8, 1873, in Illinois, son of Benjamin Hartman and Lizzie Good. [44]
