John [Adam] Bahn, the great-grandfather of our subject, was a distiller of York county, and his son Adam Bahn, the grandfather of John A. Bahn, was born in Hellam Twp, York County, where he followed farming. He married Catherine Lepart, and they both died in Hellam township, where they were buried. They were the parents of ...

A family bible [Pennsylvania, York County Historical Society, Ms. Sarah E. Smyser. John Adam Bahn Family Bible Records] reports the following [2]:

J. Adam Bahn was born in Hellam Twp., York County on the 9 day of June 1783.
A. Maria Libhart was born in Hellam Twp., York County on the 8th day of February 1791.
And were joined in the Holy bands of Matrimony by the Rev. G. Geistweit on the 9th day of February 1812.
John Adam Bahn died in Hellam Township York County on the 18th of April AD 1868. Aged 80 years 10 months 9 days.
Maria Bahn Consort of John Adam Bahn died in Hellam Township York County on the 14th day of June 1846. Aged 54 years 4 months 6 days.
