Hic jacet Edmundus Roper qui obiit II. die Decemb. Anno Dom. 1433. cujus &c.

More than a century and a half after Sumner recorded his description of the Roper chapel, another observer stated, [8]

Somner, p. 342, has retained the following memorials which were on the monuments in the South, or Roper's chancel, which time has rendered illegible: "Hic jacet Edmundus Roper qui obit II die Decemb. Anno Dom. 1433. cujus, etc."
