Notes for Isaac Rogers

1749 "Isaac Rogers, son of John Rogers, of Burlington, of 14 years and upwards, prays that Thomas Gill of Chester, yeoman, may be appointed his guardian. Bond of Thomas Gill and Jos. Biddle, fellow bondsman." Dated February 15. (Was Joseph Biddle Isaac's step-father? Isaac's mother remarried a Biddle and Isaac's petition was seven years after his father's death).

1767 Isaac Rogers, perhaps this one, advertised land for sale: "To be Sold. A Valuable Plantation and Tract of Land, pleasantly situated on the River Delaware. in the Township of Chester, Burlington County, West New-Jersey, about 10 Miles (mm Philadelphia by Land, and 8 by Water, about 10 Miles from Quakers Meeting, and seven to an English Church; the said Plantation contains about 250 Acres of Land, about 50 Acres thereof good Meadow Ground, about 20 Acres cleared, and under good Grass, Part of which Meadow lieth on a small Tide Creek on one Side the said Plantation, well secured by a good Dam and floodgates, established by an Act of Assembly; the other Part of the said Meadow lieth fronting the said River Delaware; about 80 Acres of cleared Land, divided into convenient Fields, with good Fence. the Remainder Wood-land; there is on the said Premises a good new framed Dwelling-house two Stories high, 30 by 20 feet Square, a good Cellar under the whole, with a good Kitchen, and sundry Outhouses, a Well of good Water near the Door, A small Orchard of Apple Trees, and sundry other Fruit Trees; also another good Dwelling-house on the back Part of the said Land, one Story high, two Rooms on a Floor, with two good Fire Places. The Title is indisputable. For Terms of Sale enquire of the Subscriber, living on the Premises, where they may be fully informed, by Isaac Rogers." [1]

1769 Isaac Rogers advertised a plantation for sale. Dated April 21 [2]:

To be sold. By the Subscriber, and may be entered upon next Fall, A Valuable Plantation, and Tract of Land, containing 243 acres, situate on the river Delaware, in the township of Chester, in the County of Burlington, West-Jersey, about 10 miles from Cooper's Ferries, by land, and about the same distance from Philadelphia, by water; there is on said premises, a good two story framed house, a good kitchen, stone smoke-house, and sundry other convenient buildings, a small apple orchard, and sundry other fruit trees, about 60 or 70 acres of upland cleared, and within good fence, which is very fertile for grain or market truck; there is also about 20 acres of excellent meadow cleared, most part of which is under green grass and Timothy, and well secured from the tide, about 30 acres more may be made. The title is indisputable. Any person inclinable to purchase, may know the terms, by applying to the Subscriber, living on the premises. Isaac Rogers.

1770 Isaac Rogers was taxed in Chester Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey: "List of Single Men: Horse." [3]

1775 Isaac Rogers, of Chester Township, Burlington County, yeoman dated his will on March 29. To Samuel Hank, of said Township, weaver, a coat. Brother-in-law, John Eyre, rest of apparel. Daughter, Elizabeth Rogers, rest of personal and real, when 18. If my daughter die under age, then I give my estate to my sister, Rebekah Eyre's children. Executor: friend, Joseph Roberts, of said place. Witnesses: Edward French, Jonas Cattell, John Cox, William Cox. Proved Dec. 1, 1780. [4]

1780 Isaac Rogers lived in Chester Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey. "List of householders: acres of land 0; riding chairs 0; "Flatts or Vessl." 0; merchants 0; slaves 0; money at interest 300." [5]

1800 Isaac Rogers lived in Chester Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey. "Acres of land 0; houses and lots 0; horses and mules 4; cattle 6; householders 1; shopkeepers 0; grist mills 0; saw mills 0; tanyards 0; single men and horse 0; single men 0; covering horses 0." [6]

1810 Isaac Rogers lived in Chester Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey. "Acres of land 0; houses and lots 0; horses 2; cattle 8; householders 0; single men 0; merchants and shopkeepers 0; saw mills 0; grist mills 0; tanyard vats 0; distilleries 0; coaches/wagons/chairs 1." [7]
