Notes for John Murfin

Research Notes:

1680 Mary Scholey and John Rogers were married on August 31, at the home of Thomas Lambert, Nottingham, Burlington County, New Jersey. Witnessed by Robert Scholey Junior, Mahlon Stacy, Robert Murfin, John Lambert, Thomas Lambert, William Wood, Willi Billes, Richard Ridgway, Joshua Wright, Peter Frettwell, John Murfine, Katharine Beard, Jo Cooke, and Ann Stancie. [1]

Both this John Murfin, and nephew John Murfin had fathers named Robert, so it is difficult to distinguish these men in records.

1678 John Mirffine served on a jury in Doncaster, England. [2]

1681 The death of John Mirfin in November was reported at a court held in manor of Rossington for the borough of Doncaster, England. [3]

1684 Robert and John Murfin were on the assessment list for Burlington County, New Jersey as owning 300 acres undivided and 100 acres certain. [4] [5]

1689? John Murfin, son of Robert Murfin, was buried in month 9 at Chesterfield, Burlington County, New Jersey. [6]

1698 John Murfin, perhaps this brother of Robert Murfin, husbandman of Crosswicks, Burlington County, New Jersey, transferred 260 acres to sister-in-law widow Ann Murfin. Speculation: This could be a transfer of inherited land to the widow of Robert Murfin. [7]
