1713 John Reed, Commander of ye South River Merch'nt now riding in South River in Anne Arundel County to export tobacco from Maryland to Great Brittain, was taxed. [1]
1766 William and wife Elinor Reed sold part of the tract "West Puddington", then occupied by William Chiffin, to John Reed, for 5 shillings and moving considerations. [2] [3]

The will mentioned a wife (unnamed), sons John, Benjamin, Shadrack, and daughter Ruth. Sons Amos and Shardrack were named executors. Witnessed by William Smith and Cooter Griffith. [4]
