Notes for Edmund Brudenell

"Edmund Brudenell, eldest son of William, was clerk to the parliament in the reign of Edward III and attorney to Richard II... He was also in that reign coroner of England, and by his testement, bearing date June 21, 1425, orders his body to be buried in the church of Agmondesham. He wills to Edmund, son of his brother William, his armour, ten marks, and all his books, for life, remainder to his next heir male, as also his manor at Ranes; and to John his natural brother, his cloak; and to Alice his wife, a piece of plate, with the cover, having thereon her arms. He appoints his executors Alice his wife, Henry his brother, and Edmond, son of William his brother, deceased. The issue of this Edmund and Alice was an only daughter, Alice, who took the veil in the nunnery at Burstall." [1]

"1380 July 30. Westminster. Grant, for life, to Edmund Brudenell, a clerk of the Crown in Chancery of 10 marks yearly from the issues of the hanaper. By p.s. Vacated by surrender and cancelled, because the king granted 10l. yearly to him from the same, 10 April, 7 Richard II." [2]

1384 Feb. 16. Westminster. The like [grant of pontage], for three years, to the bailiffs and good men of Aylesbury, in aid of the repair of a bridge there called 'Waltonbrugge,' and a causeway at either end thereof, by survey of the king's clerk, Edmund Brudenell." [3]
