I, Bartlett Hinson, of the county of Anson and state of North Carolina, being of perfect mind and memory, in the presence of Almighty God, do make and ordain this my last will and testament as follows:Article 1st, I give and bequeath to my son Daniel Hinson, the horse saddle & bridle I gave him when he left me with one hudred dollars in money.
Article 2nd, I give and bequeath to my daughter Margaret Short, five dollars in money. Also one trunk that was her mothers.
Article 3rd, I give to my daughter Harriet Hinson, one negro girl called Big Mariah, with two hundred dollars in money.
Article 4th, I give to my daughter Nancy Bennet, five dollars.
Article 5th. I give to my son Brinkly Hinson, the horse, saddle and bridle I gave him when he left me - with two hundred dollars in money.
Article 6th. I give to my son Hadly Hinson, the horse, bridle and saddle I gave to him when he left me - with one hundred dollars in money.
Article 7th, I give to my son Philip one sorrel filly now called his - with his saddle and bridle and two hundred dollars in money.
Article 8th, I give to my son Pleasant Hinson, one grey horse saddle and bridle now called his with two hundred dollars in money.
Article 9th, I give to my daughter Mourning Diggs, five dollars.
Article 10th, I give to my daughter Eliza Knotts, the bed and bed clothing she has in possession with seventy five dollars in money.
Article 11th, I give to my son Benjamin Hinson, when he arrives at the age of twenty one, a horse bridle and saddle to be worth seventy five dollars in cash - with three hundred dollars in cash. [omitted from the court copy]
Article 12th, I give to my son Burwell Hinson when he arrives at the age of twenty one a horse bridle and saddle to be worth seventy five dollars in cash.
Article 13th, I give to my daughter Roxanna Hinson, one bed and furniture, with two hundred dollars in money.
Article 14th, I give to my daughter, Jane Hinson, two hundred nad fifty dollars in money.
Article 15th, I give to my daughter Wineford Hinson, one bed and furniture with three hundred dollars in money.
Article 16th, I give to my granddaughter Ann Short one bed.
Article 17th, I give to my grandson Daniel Short fifty dollars in cash.
Article 18th, I give to my granddaughter Harriet Jane Bennett, seventy five dollars in cash.
Article 19th, I wish my two negro men Case and Sam, to be hired out from year to year until the youngest child becomes of age, and their hire to be applied to the use of the four youngest children.
Article 20th, I wish my Executors to sell my land and improvements together with the present crop and all other property not otherwise appropriated in this will on the first day of January on a credit of twelve months or more as my Executors may think best.
Article 21st, I wish my two negro men Case and Sam to be sold when the youngest child becomes of age, and the proceeds to be equally divided between all my children.
Article 22nd, I do hereby nominate and appoint my son Pleasant Hinson And my friend Robert Lewis, Executors to this my last will and testament June 7th, 1833.
