1754 John Jacob, son of Gerhard and Maria Kaffroth, was born on December 9, 1754. He was baptized at Bethany United Church of Christ, at Ephrata, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [1] John Jacob was born on December 2 and was baptized on December 22, 1754 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania with sponsors Matthias and Dorothea Beckel. [2] [3]

1775 Jacob Koffroth was taxed in Cocalico Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania as a freeman. [4]

1777 Susanna Ream was born September 11, 1777. [5]

1777 Jacob and Henry Koffroth were taxed in Cocalico Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [6]

1778 On 29 December, John Jacob Kaffroth and Elizabeth Gerber were married at Kellers Cocalico Reformed Church in Ephrata, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [7] [8] [9]

1780 On 12 October, Jacob Kaufelt, perhaps this one, was listed 5th class in the return of Michael Hahn's company of militia of the 1st Battallion commanded by Col. Miller [13]

1781 Jacob and his older brother Henry served as a Privates 3rd Class in Captain Michael Oberly's Sixth Company, Third Battalion, Lancaster County Militia, according to the evidence of a True Return dated December 4, 1781. His residence was ascribed as Cocalico Twp. He was listed as Jacob Kaffrad.

1783 Samuel, son of Jacob and Elizabeth Kaffroth, was born on November 3, 1783 and was baptized June 15, 1785 with his parents as sponsors. [19]

1790 Jacob Kaffrode [Koffroth] lived in Cocalico Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in a household with 6 persons. [20]

1795 Jacob Kaffroth was in the Company of Colonel Henry Ream in the First Battalion, Seventh Regiment, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [21]

1796 On 25 June, John W Killera deeded land, due to a mortgage from Jacob Coffrode, to Jacob Coffrode, both of Lancaster County. The land was in Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [22]

1798 Elisabeth Kaffroth died on April 30, 1798, at age 42?y 9m, and was buried at the Cocalico Reformed Graveyard. She was born in July. [23] Her headstone reads "Elizabeth Koffroth." [24] [25] [26]

1800 Jacob Kafferoth [Koffroth] lived in Cocalico Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in a household with 1 male (age 0-10), 1 male (age 16-25), 1 male (age 45+), 1 female (age 10-15), 1 female (age 16-25). [27]

c 1800 The old meeting house known as Zeltenreich Church in which the conregation had so long worshipped, was in a very dilapidated condition in 1799, and it was therefore resolved to build a new church in a more central locality; this was finally done on a lot donated by Mathias Shirk in the village of New Holland. During the years 1799 and 1800 the large brick building at present used was erected at a cost of $5,827.38. This church was authorized to raise funds by means of a lottery. The Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania appointed seven commissioners, among them Jacob Koffroth (spelled Colfrode), to raise by way of a lottery a sum not exceeding $4,000.00 to defray the expenses of completing a church, "lately built by the German Calvinist Congregation in the village of New Holland". The church then erected has been in use ever since. In 1852 the interior was remodeled at a cost of $1,900.00. [28]

1804 In the November 23, 1804 issue of the Lancaster Journal, Jacob Kafroth placed a notice as follows: $40.00 reward. Ranaway from the subscriber, living in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, a German servant man named Philip Eibler, about 25 years of age, 5 feet seven or eight inches high, slim made, long visage. He took with him one old sky blue coat, leather breeches, striped tow trousers, swansdown jacket and an old wool hat. Whoever takes up said runaway and brings him to me, shall have the above reward and all reasonable charges. [29]

1806 Jacob Koffroth purchased a mill in Earlville from the Carpenter family.

1824 Jacob Koffroth signed his will on 27 October 1821. It was witnessed by Henry Smith and by Levi and John Carpenter. His probate records in the recorder's office at Lancaster County Courthouse are found in Book K, Vol. 5, page 8. Mentioned are children: George and Peter and daughters Salome and husband John Mehlhorn, Susanna and husband William Heiss, Juliana and husband Jacob Grebill, and Maria and husband Samuel Johns. Son Peter inherited 30 acres in Earl Twp including a gristmill, sawmill, and merchant mill. Son George inherited 120 acres in Earl Twp. Son George was named executor with friends Christian Carpenter and George B Porter, Esq. Reference was made that Jacob died on 7 Oct 1824 and refers to a stone Swisser barn on his plantation and to Kafroth's Bridge. [30] [31]

1824 Jacob Kafroth died on October 7, 1824, at age 69y 9m 29d, and was buried at the Cocalico Reformed Graveyard. He was born on December 9, 1754. [32]

1824 Lancaster Journal, Friday, 15 Oct 1824, reported the following death record: "Died. On Thursday last, at his residence, Mr. Jacob Kaufroth in the 67th [sic] year of his age. His remains were interred on the Saturday following in the Presbyterian [sic] Burial Ground near Ephrata. It was attended by a large concourse of relatives and neighbors." Jacob was actually 70 years old at death and was buried beside his parents in the old Cocalico Reformed Church Cemetery, Ephrata, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. His third and last wife, Susanna, lived until 1849 and was buried in the Carpenter Community Church Cemetery, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [33] [34] [35]

1849 Jacob Koffroth's second wife, Susanna Ream, died 24 Apr 1849 in Earlville, Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [36] [37] [38]
