Notes for John Hinson

John Henson was named in several documents in Hanover/Louisa County, Virginia after 1730. Some of those documents also named Benjamin Henson, perhaps a son of John, and some named James Nowlin, perehaps a father-in-law. John Henson dated his will in 1745, but may have lived for a few years after that. His will named son Philip. John Henson witnessed a deed in 1703. If that was the same John Henson, then he must have been age 21 at the time, so he may have been born as early as 1680.

Research Notes:

We are researching Philip Hinson [27], who was married to Mary and who was the father of Kizannah Hinson, wife of Micajah Pickett. Philip and Mary lived in the border area between North and South Carolina and appear in North Carolina deed records as early as 1735. Previously, we had assumed that John and Martha's son Philip, husband of Mary Sanders was the same person as the father of Kizannah Hinson, as have other researchers. However, court records and deeds in the 1760s from Virginia and North Carolina during the same period, suggest that they were two diffferent persons. The name Bartlett was used in both families, so we suspect that there is a family relationship, unknown to us at this time. In order to help us organize our research notes, we show them as the same person, although we acknowledge our uncertainty that these are the same men.

Several deeds and documents describe land adjacent to land of John Hinson and mention persons who interacted with him.

Research Notes:

"The parents of our ancestor, William Hinson (17??-c1799) can not be proved, although he was certainly the grandson of Alexander Hinson. The loss of King George Co. will book no 1 has deprived us from examining Alexander's will, and consequently, the names and numbers of his children are unknown. Two sons have been positively identified, Christopher and John, both of whom inherited land from their father. Very little else about them has been found." [68]
