1850 William Walley (age 33, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Menallen, Adams County, Pennsylvania with Cathrine Walley (age 27), Lyacum Walley (age 6), Elizabeth Walley (age 5), Angeline Walley (age 3), Jacob Thomas (age 17), and Cathrine Plaster (age 16). Catherine Walley (age 50) and Margaret Walley (age 40) were listed adjacent. Elizabeth Walley age 70 (perhaps William's mother) lived nearby. [1]

1860 William Walhey (age 43, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Menallen, Adams County, Pennsylvania, at post office Bendersville, with Catharine Walhey (age 35), Eliachim Walhey (age 15), Elizabeth Walhey (age 13), Angeline Walhey (age 11), John Walhey (age 9), and Wilson W Walhey (age 7). Next door is the family of George Bender (age 43) with 6 children and William Weigle (age 13). Elizabeth Walhey (age 86), likely William's mother, and Catharine Walhey (age 60) lived nearby. [2]

1870 William Walhey (age 53) and Catharine Walhey (age 45) lived in Menallen Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania with 4 children: John (age 18), Wilson (age 16), Angeline (age 21) and Anna (age 2). [3]

1871 On 27 November, Catherine, wife of William Walhey died, at age 47y 8d, and was buried at Bendersville Cemetery, Bendersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [4]

1880 William Wahley (age 62, born in Pennsylvania), married, self (head), Retired Farmer, lived in Menallen, Adams County, Pennsylvania (father born in Pennsylvania and mother born in Pennsylvania) with Ruth Wahley (age 45), and Anna Wahley (age 14). [5]

1894 On 10 August, William Walhey (born 2 October 1813, perhaps) died and was buried at Bendersville Cemetery, Bendersville, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [6]

A biosketch reports [7]:

William Walhey, retired farmer, Bendersville, was born August 2, 1816, in Menallen Township, this county, and is a son of John and Elizabeth (Bender) Walhey, former a native of Armstrong County, Penn., a son of Nicholas, and of French extraction; the latter a native of Dover, York County, Penn., a daughter of Henry Bender, and a sister of Henry Bender who was part owner of the original plat of Bendersville. John Walhey was a moulder by trade, but while living in this county followed farming. He died in 1819, a member of the Catholic Church, at the age of fifty years; his widow was a member of the Evangelical Church, and died at the age of eighty-seven years and eight months, in about 1866. William Walhey was reared a farmer; on December 13, 1843, he married Catherine Rice, of Gettysburg; she died in 1871, the mother of the following children: Eliakim, Elizabeth C., Angeline, John W., William W., Samuel H., and Annie Armenia, who died in childhood. March 4, 1873, Mr. Walhey's second marriage was celebrated with Ruth Wilson Wills, a daughter of James J. Wills, and a sister of Judge Wills of this county. Mr. Walhey now resides at Bendersville, retired from his main farm, and now operates twenty acres near town. He is a Prohibitionist; has served his township in local offices. He is a member of the Methodist Church, in which he has been steward and trustee. Mrs. Walhey is also a member of the same church.
