Research Notes:

Notes from rootsweb datafile "Eddy family" report:

Conrad Bender evidently came to Menallen Twp from Dover, York Co, in 1791 with his family after the death of his first wife. His first wife was an English Quaker lady of the orthodox faith. She was noted for her devout christain life which left a lasting impression on her children who were old enough to remember her. She died shortly after the birth of her 7th child in 1791. He then married Margaret (LastNameUnknown) who survived him and is named in his will to be cared for the balance of her life by his sons, Jacob and Henry. At the time of his will, his son Jacob had already received half the property and was living and farming same. Henry would receive the remaining half (the half Conrad was living on) after Conrad's and Margaret's death. The sons were charged with providing 1000 pounds to be given to their five sisters starting one year after the the deaths of Conrad and Margaret in yearly payments of 50 pounds each. Payments to be made to Elizabeth, Wife to John Walley, Mary, Wife to Nicholas Wierman, Catherine Bender, Susanna, wife of John Schloser and Sophia Bender.
