Notes for Henry Musselman

1717 Three ships arrived in Philadelphia with Mennonite passengers. [1] [2] 84. Heinrich Musselman, age 21, d. 1752, E. Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County, has been named as likely being on one of the ships. [3] Henry Musselman reportedly arrived in Pennsylvania in August 1717. [4]

1717 Henry Musselman had land surveyed in Pennsylvania. [5]

1718 Henry Musselman lived in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania but did not appear on the assessment list. [6] Henry Musselman appeared on the 1718 tax record. [7]

1719 Henry Musselman was on the Conestoga Twp, Lancaster County tax list, value 18 pounds. [8] [9]

1720 Henry Musselman was on the Conestoga Twp, Lancaster County tax list, value 15 pounds. [10] [11]

1721 Henry Musselman was on the Conestoga Twp, Lancaster County tax list, value 10 pounds. [12]

1722 Henry Musselman was on the Conestoga Twp, Lancaster County tax list, value 12 pounds. John Henry Musselman was also listed. [13]

1734 Henry Musselman warranted 100 acres, on a branch of the L Conestoga Creek in Lancaster County, on February 27. [14] Henry patented the land in 1734 [15]. The survey showed adjacent land owned by Geo. Shallybarger, Henry Mussleman, and Jacob Jacob [16]. Another survey showed Jacob Shelley nearby, executor to Henry's 1752 will. [17] Henry Musselman warranted 50 more acres on April 23. [18] [19]

1734 Henry Musselman the elder received a patent for a tract of 200 acres in Lancaster County on June 12. The tract was on Conestoga Creek, adjacent to land owned by heirs of Michael Coffman. The tract was part of a tract warranted by Martin Kendig and Hans Heer. [20] [21]

1738 Henry Musselman patented 103 acres on a branch of the Little Conestoga on February 19. [22] It was surveyed February 27, 1734. [23] [24] [25] The land was next to land of Henry Musselman [26], Jacob, Jacob, and Geo Shallybarger. The survey was for 200 acres and was next to land of Michael Coffman's children. An adjacent lot was for Herman Long, husband of Ann Hershey born 1698.

1747 Henry Musselman the elder patented 304 acres in Lancaster County on November 11. [27] [28]

1748 Hans and Margaret Musselman of Earl Twp sold land to son Christian Musselman on March 9. The 200 acres of land were on a branch of Conestoga Creek (Mill Creek) next to land of Hans Hoober, and Hans Moyer. The land had been patented to Hans on 21 May 1735. [29] [30]

1749 Henry Musselman bought 150 acres in Donegal Township from James Mitchell on August 7, 1749. [31]

1751 Henry Mussleman was taxed in Hempfield Township, Lancaster County in 1751. [32]

1752 The will of Henry Musselman was dated April 20 and was in probate court on June 2, 1752. Wife was Elizabeth Musselman. Children were Henry, Peter, Elizabeth, and Maria. Executors were Joseph Gochenour and Jacob Shally. [33] [34] See, also, deeds dated 1765, which name heir Christian Musselman.

Several deeds named heirs of Henry Musselman:

1765 Heirs of Henry Musselman, the Elder, deceased, were named in a deed, dated October 19. Christian Musselman and Elizabeth his wife, Peter Musselman and Margaret his wife, John Killhofer and Mary his wife, all of Lancaster County and heirs of Henry Musselman the elder; sold 200 acres of land to Henry Musselman. Henry Musselman [the Elder] had patented the land on June 12, 1734 [35] and on November 11, 1747 [36]. [37]

1765 Heirs of Henry Musselman were named in a deed, dated October 19. Henry Musselman and Mandlin his wife, Christian Musselman and Elizabeth his wife, Peter Musselman and Margaret his wife, all of Lancaster County and all heirs of Henry Musselman the elder deceased, sold land to John Killhoffer. The 500 acres had been granted to Henry Musselman the elder by patents, one on June 12, 1731 [38], and another [39], and another patent for 304 acres, dated November 11, 1747. [40] Henry's will was dated April 20, 1752. [41]

1766 A deed named Henry Mussleman, deceased, as a brother of, Peter Musselman. Peter Musselman died without issue. Henry Musselman, Christian Musselman, Peter Musselman, and Mary Musselman were named as the children of Henry Musselman. Land from Peter Mussleman's estate was sold in 1766 to Melchor Henneberger, by many of the heirs of his estate. [42]

1773 Christian Musselman sold land, on March 2, to David Musselman, both of Hempfield Twp and both sons of David Musselman, late of Hempfield Twp. The land had been granted on January 16, 1744 to the father David Musselman. The 194 acre tract was next to land of Phillip Nults, Andrew Hershas, James Moore, Daniel Deneston. [43] [44]

1775 Christian Musselman, perhaps a son of this Christian Musselman, of Earl Twp, and Maria his wife sold, on April 21, 110 acres of land in Cocalico Twp to John Musselman of Cocalico Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The land had been granted to Christian Musselman by Jacob and Christina Ream in 1768. [45]

1776 David Musselman of Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County, sold land to Michael and Feronica Musselman in order to pay debts. The deed was dated March 11. The land was a 99 acre plantation in Hempfield next to land of John Newcomer and Christian Hertzler. [46]

1776 Peter Musselman of Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County, sold land to Michael and Feronica Musselman in order to pay debts. The deed was dated March 11. The land was a 99 acre plantation in Hempfield next to land of John Newcomer, John Heller, and David Mussleman. [47]

1776 David and Barbara Musselman of Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County, mortgaged land to George Graff, merchant of Lancaster Borough, in order to pay a debt. The deed was dated April 5. The 194 acre plantation was next to land of Henry Weller, Philip Nult, Andrew Hershey, late James Moore, and David Dennistor. [48]

1777 Christian Musselman, perhaps a son of this Christian Musselman, and his wife Magdalen sold land in Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County, on June 13, to Conrad Reitzel. The land was part of 242 acres of land in Hempfield Twp patented on April 14, 1767 by Joseph Sherrick. [49] On October 8, Joseph Sherick granted 4 acres of that land to Valentin Breneissen. The parcel of land was next to land of John Newcomer and Jacob Sherick. On April 27, 1776, Valentine and Salome Breneissen had sold the land to Christian Musselman. [50]

1780 Adam Tate sold 51 acres of land in Hempfield Twp, on August 1, to David Musselman, both of Hempfield Twp. [51]

1799 Henry Musselman (Jr) sold land, on March 30, to son Jacob Musselman, both of Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County. The land had been granted to Henry Musselman (Sr) on June 12, 1734. [52] [53] The will of Henry Musselman Sr was dated April 20, 1752 and named heirs Henry, Christian, Peter, Mary who later married John Kilhefer, Elizabeth Mussleman who died unmarried in her minority. Henry bought the estate from Christian and wife Elizabeth, Peter and wife Margaret, and Mary and John Killhofer on October 19, 1765. [54]

Research Notes:

Both Elizabeth Meyer and Elizabeth Gochnauer have been named as possible spouses of Henry Musselman.

c 1702 Elizabeth Meyer, daughter of Hans Mier and Anna Brubaker, was born. [55]

Henry Musselman, son of Christian Mosiman, married Elizabeth Meyer, daughter of Hans Mier. They had 5 children. [56] [57] [58] [59] [60]

Genealogy notes suggest that Henry Musselman might have married Elizabeth Gochnauer. [61] [62] [63]
