Jacob was a local counsellor and Lieutenant of militia. His four sons settled in La-Chaux-du-Milieu, Switzerland. Some of his descendants were known by the surname Huguenin-Dezot. Jacob was the ancestor of the well-known "Huguenin Medailleurs" founders, brothers Fritz-Aime (1845-1915) and Zelim-Albert Huguenin-Dezot (1849-1928). They were engravers and designers who decorated watch cases; the company later made medals for Gulf War coalition troops, and coins celebrating the Lillehammer Winter Olympics.
