Research Notes:

1736 Philippina Bortner was born in 1736 to Balser and Maria Elisabeth Bortner in the Tulpehocken settlement, Codorus Twp, York County, Pennsylvania. [1]

1750's Philippina Bortner lived with the family of her sister, Anna Maria Barbara Bortner, married to Henry Kann. [2]

1753 Philliphine Bordnerin and Johannes Kan were sponsors at the baptism of Johannes Kan in December to parents Heinrich and Anna Barbara Kan. [3]

Philippina Bortner married Charles Shaffer of Codorus Township, York County. [4]

Rozena Bortner, daughter of Baltzer, married Frederick Frasher. [5]

1759 Charles and Philippina Shaffer sold 100 acres of their land to her brother, George Bortner. Dated September 27. [6]

1760 Letters of administration were granted to Ulrich Hoober and Ludwig Krebs, with a copy of an English translation of a Dutch will, for the estate of Carle Shaffer. Dated January 29. [7]

1761 "Came in to court Ulrick Huber and Ludwick Krebs executors of the testament and last will of Charles Shaffer deceased and produced the accounts of their administration … [with] a balance of … 16 pounds four shillings and seven pence … executors do pay unto Frederick Fraizer and his wife Philippina his wife, late the widow of [Charles Shaffer, and] to the guardian of Henry Shaffer and Charles Shaffer the minor orphan children of [Charles Shaffer]" Dated May 26, at the Orphans' Court of York County. [8]

1772 At the York County Orphans' Court, Henry Shaffer, aged sixteen, and Charles Shaffer, age fourteen, minor children of Charles Shaffer, deceased, asked that Ludwick Crepps [Krebs?] be appointed guardian over their estates. [9]

1776 Frederick Frasher surveyed 125 acres in Codorus Twp, York County. Dated May 1. [10] The survey showed several tracts, intermingled with tracts of George Bortner and Ludwig Bortner and Peter Frazier. [11] [12] A land patent was issued to Frederick Frazier. [13]

1809 Frederick Froesher dated his will on May 7, in Codorus Twp, York County, Pennsylvania. The will named wife Chatoryna (page 1), and twelve children: three sons Ludwig, Peter, John; and nine daughters Chatoryna, Margret, Barbra, Sharlat, Rosina, Christina, Elisabeth, Evaf, and Magtolena (page 2). Daughter Margret was intermarried with John Ermann. Son Frederick Frosher, deceased was named. A dwelling place in Codorus Twp adjacent to Peter Krebs and Ludwig Bortner. Executors were wife Chatharina, son Peter Froesher and son-in-law George Gerberish (page 3). Witnessed by Dewalt Shnyder and Ludwig Bortner. Proved 12 January, 1811. [14]
