Obituaries September 30, 1993, The Des Moines Register, p. 7: Maxine Chentlan, 75, of Nevada died of cancer Sept. 23 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg, with burial in Warren Township Cemetery there. Mrs. Chentland was born in Corydon. She had been a nurse for 32 years and was a member of the Lutheran Church, Women of the Moose, Story County Hospital Auxiliary and the Council on Aging. Survivors include a son, Marvin of Lakeside, Calif.; three brothers, Earl Gammon, Frank Gammon and Paul Gammon, all of Ames; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing is in charge of arrangements.
