1846 Jacob Hoffman was taxed in Rule's addition, Woodbury Twp, Richland County, Ohio. [3]
1846 Jacob Hoffman died on September 19, at age 25y 9m 10d, and was buried at Woodbury Cemetery, Morrow County, Ohio. [4] [5]
1846 Records for the estate of Jacob Hoffman were recorded in Richland County, Ohio. Dated October 26. There were debts due to the estate from many debtors including George B Hosler, Abraham Bowman, Henry Bowman, and George Rule. Elizabeth Hoffman was named as the widow and Elizabeth and Susan Hoffman were named as minor children. George G. Nickey was the administrator. [6]
1849 George B Hosler, the father of widow Elizabeth Hosler Hoffman, was appointed guardian of the minor children Susan and Catherine Hoffman. [7]
1849 Jacob Steffy and [widow] Elizabeth Huffman were married on June 7, in Morrow County, Ohio. [8] [9]
1850 Jacob Stauffer (age 26) and Elizabeth (age 25) lived in Perry Twp, Morrow County, Ohio with children Susan (age 6) and Catherine (age 5) Hoffman, the children of Jacob Hoffman, deceased. [10] [11]
1850 Elizabeth's father George B Hosler, acting as the guardian of the minor heirs (unnamed) of Jacob Hoffman, sold 2 lots of land (lots 3 and 10) to David Lavering for $255 that were situated in George Rule's addition in the town of Woodbury. 1853 The guardianship account of George B Hosler was closed on April 18 in the court of Morrow County, Ohio. [12]
1860 Elizabeth Steffey (age 35) lived in Fall Creek, Hamilton County, Indiana, at post office Clarksville, with Jacob Steffey (age 36), Susan Steffey (age 17), Catharine Steffey (age 15), Lilas Steffey (age 6), John Steffey (age 3), and Ellen Steffey (age 11/12). [13] [14]
1865 An account was made of the estate of father George B Hosler, deceased, naming widow Catharine Hosler and other heirs: Jacob Steffy, Samuel Hosler, Henry R Hosler, Abraham R Hosler, Isaac Ruhl and wife Leah. Dated December 30. [15]
1870 Elizebeth Steffy (age 45, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Osawkee, Jefferson County, Kansas, at post office Perry, with Jacob Steffy (age 46), Lilas Steffy (age 16), John Steffy (age 13), Ellen Steffy (age 10), Malone Steffy (age 8), and Catharine Hoffman (age 23). [16]
1875 Jacob Steffy (age 52) and E Steffy (age 50) lived in Ozawkie, Jefferson County, Kansas with Catherine Hoffman (age 28) and children named Steffy. [17]
1880 Elizabath Steffy (age 54, born in Pennsylvania), married, wife, Keeping House, lived in Osawkie, Jefferson County, Kansas (father born in Pennsylvania and mother born in Pennsylvania) with Jacob Steffy (age 55), Mahlon Steffy (age 18), and Catharine Hoffman (age 29). [18] [19]
1895 Jacob Steffey (age 71) and Elizabeth Steffey (age 70) lived in Jefferson County, Kansas with Catherine Hoffman (age 48, born Ohio). [20]
1898 Elizabeth, wife of Jacob Steffey, died on February 8 and was buried at Fairview Cemetery, Dunavant, Jefferson County, Kansas. [21] [22] An obituary reports [23]
Mrs. Jacob Steffy, of Ozawkie, died on Tuesday, February 8th., buried on the 9th. The services were conducted by Rev. J.L. Thompson, assisted by N.I. Faubian. The interment was in Fairview cemetery. Mrs. Steffy was born in York county Pa., on January 2, 1825, making her a little over 73 years old. She was married at the aged of 28, and united with United Brethren chuch. They settled in this country in 1869. She was a model Christian wife and mother. Her husband and three sons and two daughters survive her. [Extracted by James Laird]

Elizabeth Steffey, nee Hosler, was born in York Co., Pa, Jan. 2, 1825. At the age of 7 seven years she emigrated with her parents to Richmond Co., Ohio. At the age of 16 years, she married to Jacob Hoffman. To them were born two daughters, one of whom died at the age of 50 years, and the other is still living and is the wife of W. R Miller. Having been married four years, Mr. Hoffman died Jan. 7, 1849, and Mrs. H was subsequently married to Jacob Steffey in Ohio. To them were born six children, four sons and two daughters, four of whom are still living, one son and one daughter having died in infancy. In 1851 they moved to Indiana and lived there sixteen years. They came to Kansas in 1869, to Jefferson County, and have been living here 29 years. Now Mrs. Steffey has emigrated to a better country, that is the heavenly, having departed this life Feb. 8, 1898, at the age of 73 years, 1 month, and 6 days. …
1900 Jacob Steffey (age 76, birthdate Feb 1824, born in Pennsylvania), widowed, father, lived in Ozawkie, Jefferson County, Kansas (father born in Maryland and mother born in Pennsylvania) with Mahler C Steffey (age 38), Ida M Steffey (age 33), Ira S Steffey (age 14), Ray E Steffey (age 12), Floyd M Steffey (age 10), Raymond L Steffey (age 8), M Freda Steffey (age 2), and Hallie A Steffey (age 16). 1910 Jacob Steffey (age 86, born in Pennsylvania), married, head, Own Income, lived in Delaware, Jefferson County, Kansas (father born in Pennsylvania and mother born in Pennsylvania) with Julia Steffey (age 69). [26]
1916 Jacob Steffey died on January 25 and was buried at Fairview Cemetery, Dunavant, Jefferson County, Kansas. [27] [28]
