Research Notes:

Notes for this Charles (born about 1746) son of Philip and for Charles (born 1763) son of Benjamin, might possibly be confused with each other. We suspect that the notes below all refer to Charles, son of Philip.

1766 John Flower sold land to Charles Henson, both of Anson County, North Carolina. The 100 are tract was on both sides of old mill creek and was part of a 400 acre tract granted to W. Kemp. The deed was dated May 3 and was witnessed by Heza Russ and John Parsons. [1]

1772 John Hinson, Benjamin Hinson, and Charles Hinson were appointed by the court to lay out a road in Anson County. Date July 15. [2]

1774 Charles Hinson was appointed overseer of the road in the place of Benjamin Hinson. April session. [3]

1776 Charles Hinson was appointed overseer of the road from Jones Creek to the province line. July 9. [4]

1779 Charles Hinson entered 100 acres in Anson County, North Carolina. [5]

Charles Hinson enters 100 acres of land in Anson County being on old Mill Creek beginning on Camps S.W. corner to the right hand of the road as you go down on the So side of the Creek and taking both sides of the Creek including the 100 acres he bought of John Flowers This improvement.

1790 Charles Henson Senr, of Anson County, North Carolina, sold land to John Henson. The tract of 100 acres was on both sides of Old Mill Creek. The tract was part of a 400 acre tract that had been granted to William Kemps in 1749. The deed was dated February 25 and was witnessed by Frame Wood, Joseph Parsons, and John Henson. [6]

1795 Charles Hinson Senr purchased land from Daniel Hinson, both of Anson County, North Carolina. The 50 acre tract was on the north and west sided of Sweres creek. The deed was dated April 14 and was witnessed by James Barnes and William Henson. [7]

1800 Charles Henson was listed in the census for Fayetteville, Anson County, North Carolina in a household with Males: 1 (age 16 thru 25), and 1 (age 45 and over); Females: 1 (age 10 thru 15), 1 (age 16 thru 25), and 1 (age 45 and over). [8] Charles Hinson Jr, Daniel Henson, Martin Pickett, Reuben Vinson, James Coburn, James Mullis were listed nearby.

1810 Chas Hinson was listed in the 1810 census for Anson County, North Carolina in a household with Males: 2 (age Under 10), 1 (age 16 thru 25), 1 (age 26 thru 44), and 1 (age 45 and over); Females: 1 (age Under 10), 3 (age 10 thru 15), and 1 (age 26 thru 44). [9][10] Rubin Vincent, James Mullace, James Coburn, Jeremiah Clonck were listed on the same or the next page of the census.

1810-1820 Charles may have died.

1820 Joshua Henson was listed in the 1820 census for Anson County, North Carolina. Nearby listings included James Cobren and James Mullice. [11]

1830 Joshua Henson lived in Roane County, Tennessee in a household with males: 1 (30 thru 39); and females: 3 (under 5) and 1 (20 thru 29). [12]

1834 The estate sale of Joshua Henson was recorded in Maury County, Tennessee. [13]
