Notes for Christian Renatus Stoner

1737/49 Christian Renatus Stainer, son of Abraham Stainer and Maria Stainerin geb. Laubin, was born on April 11, 1737 in Warwick. He was baptized at the Moravian Church in Salisbury on February 11, 1749 by H.F. Cammerhoff with witnesses Anton Wagner, Joh. Munster, Sebast. Knaus, and Jacob Ehrnhardt. [1] [2]

1763 Christian Stiner, perhaps this one, mortgaged land to Caspar Grubb. Dated March 29. The tract in Warwick Twp was described as adjacent to land of Ulrich Lype. The mortgage was paid by 1764. [3]

Research Notes:

We suspect that Christian Renatus Steiner, son of Abraham and Mary Steiner, is the same person as Christian Reinmond Steiner (died 1803), spouse of Hannah Barbara Streiter, of Frederick County, Maryland. We welcome evidence to clarify this potential relationship.

1756 Christian Stoner was taxed in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsyvania. Jacob Stoner was taxed as a freeman. [4]

1757 Christian Stoner was taxed in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsyvania. [5]

1765 A warrant for 150 acres of land on Conestoga Creek was granted to Christian Ohlinger on October 22. [6]

1766 A land survey of land in Cocalico Twp, Lancaster County was made on March 28 for Christian Stoner. Adjacent lands were held by Michael Poutz, Jacob Sponhor, Baltzer Sloutz, Jacob Sensinick, Christian Abey, and John Landus. [7] A patent for the tract was granted to Christian Oblinger.

1766 Christian Steiner, son of Abraham and Anna Mary Steiner, married Anna Barbara Streiter on April 26. [8]

1769 Christian and Hanna Steiner witnessed the baptism of John Jacob, son of Haat and Christina Streiter on June 30 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick, Maryland. [9]

1772 Christian and Hanna Steiner witnessed the baptism of Daniel (born April 10), son of Georg Frederick and Maria Burckhardt on May 17 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick, Maryland. [10]

1781 Salome, daughter of Christian and Hanna Barbara Steiner was born on November 10. She was baptized on January 6. [11]

1801 Elisabeth Steiner and Johannes Hoffman were married on June 23. "Witness: Jacob Hoffmann, Philip Reich, Jacob Baltzel in Christian Steiner's home". [12]

1803 Reinmond Christian Steiner died on December 17, 1803 (aged 66) and was buried at Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland. [13] Reported by some to have spouse Hanna Barbara Strider (1748-1818)

Married April 20, 1766 to Anna Barbara Streiter.
Had 7 sons and 6 daughters.

Died of consumption. 66 years, 8 months, 3 days (birthdate April 20, 1737)

1803 Christian Stoner of Frederick Town, blacksmith, dated his will on December 15. The will named wife Hannah Stoner and five daughters: Elizabeth Hoffman, Phebe Reich, Mary Stoner, Sophia Stoner, and Sarah Stoner. Wife Hannah was named as executor. Witnessed by John Shellman, Jacob Harman, and Peter Burkhart. The will was confirmed on January 12, 1804. [14]

1804 Sophia Stoner and John Simpson were married on May 20. "Md in Widow Stoner's house". [15]

1806 Sara Steiner and Isaac Streiter were married on January 7. "Md at widow Steiner's house". [16]

1818 Hannah Steiner of Frederick County, Maryland, widow of Christian Steiner, dated her will on September 22. The will named daughter Mary, Elizabeth wife of John Hoffman, Philipina wife of John Reich, Maria single, Sophia wife of John Simpson, and Sarah wife of Isaac Streider. Hannah bequeathed slave girls named Lis, age 9 next June, and Til, about 5 years old next September. John Hoffman was named executor. The will was confirmed on October 16. [17]

A different Christian Stoner was a landowner in 1733:

1733 A warrant for 200 acres of land on Conestoga Creek was granted to Christian Stoner on January 8. [18]

1733 A land survey was made on January 24 for Christian Stoner, of 180 acres on a branch of Conestogoe in Lancaster County.[19]
