15 March 1549/50—the will of Elizabeth Lynche of Sandwich, Kent, widow … sons James, John, Jerome and Thomas Courthopp and Alexander Courthopp & Katherine Courthopp children of the said John … to daughters Alice Sharpie, Mary Ovenden, Joan Lynch and Clemence Lynche … to son Robert Lynche at age 22 … to goddaughter Mary Lynche … to each of the sons of my son in law Simon Lynche: William, John, Thomas and Simon Lynche … to goddaughter Mary Ovenden … son in law John ovenden … if son Robert Lynche die before 22, tail to sons Jerome and Thomas Courthopp, if daughter Clemence Lynche die unmarried, then her legacies in tail to rest of my daughters … to the poor of Cranbrook … to Elizabeth Ovenden … to goddaughter Elizabeth Spencer … son in law Simon Lynche's house in Sandwich … he and son John Courthopp to be executors … well beloved brother Sir John Baker knight overseer … codicil 7 or 8 days later: to 4 of her brother Sir John Baker's children: Richard, John, Cicely and Elizabeth to each one angle nobe; to her sister Joane Reynns … to Rose Lynche at marriage 40s … to r prison houses in London viz.
