Notes for Charles William Klink and Louise B. Schnee

1866 Charles William Klink was born on April 29, 1866. [1]

1875 Louise Valalee [Schnee] was born on June 22, 1875. [2]

Louise Schnee and C.W. (Will) Klink were married in 1896. Mr. Klink purchased 240 acres southeast of Arkansas City. Here their four children were born; Charles (1897), Presbyterian Manor, Edith (1898) deceased, Aleene (Mrs. Frank Koehler) (1904) Emporia, and Velda (Mrs. Louis Gochis) (1906) of Arkansas City. All three daughters graduated from Southwestern College, and all attended the 60th Anniversary of their graduations.

In 1955, Mrs. Klink (Louise) was honored for having played the piano for services at Mt. Zion and Grandview Churches for 65 years. Her photograph was the cover of the "Kansas Farmer" magazine, Ortober 1, 1955. A few years ago the Kansas Farm Bureau recognized farms that had been in the same family for 100 years or more, The Schnee farm was one of them.

Aleene Klink married Frank Koehler in 1941. They had one son, Dr. Philip Koehler. He and his wife Linda have 2 sons, Brian and Warren. Philip and his sons are all Eagle Scouts. He is professor of Food Chemistry in Georgia University.

Velda Klink married Louis Gochis in 1932. Their daughter Helen was Queen Alatah in 1952, She graduated from Kansas State University and the University of Kansas in Medical Technology. She married J.T. Templeton and lives in San Jose, California. William (Bill) graduated from Kansas University with Engineering and M.B.A. degrees. He lives in Overland Park, where he is executive vice president of Bubeck Corporation (Trane) with offices in Overland Park, Topeka and Springfield, Missouri.

Bill and his wife, Bobbetta, have 3 sons, Michael who graduates from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1990, Richard who attends Baylor University and David, a senior in high school.

The Schnee ancestor was Johannes Schnee who came from the Palatinate region in Germany in 1743. The Klinks came from Germany, the Bradleys from Ireland and the Gochis' from Greece.

1900 U.S. Census, Bolton District 46, Cowley County, Kansas: William Klink age 34 is a farmer with wife Louise age 24 and children Charles A. age 3 and Edith A age 1. William was born in Missouri with both parents born in Germany, Louise was born in Kansas, her father in Pennsylvania, and her mother in Canada. Both children were born in Kansas. William and Louise have been married for 4 years.

1910 U.S. Census, Bolton District 46, Cowley County, Kansas: Charles W. Klink age 44 is a farmer with wife Louisa V. age 34 and children Charles A. age 13, Edith A age 11, Aleene age 5, and Velda age 3. Charles was born in Missouri with both parents born in Germany, Louisa was born in Kansas, her father in Pennsylvania, and her mother in Canada (Irish). The children were born in Kansas. Charles and Louise have been married for 14 years.

1930 U.S. Census, Bolton District 10, Cowley County, Kansas: C.W. Klink age 63 is a farmer with wife Lulu. age 54, son Charles age 33, and daughters Edith age 31, Aleene age 24, and Velda age 22. Charles was born in Missouri with both parents born in Germany, Louisa was born in Kansas, her father in Pennsylvania, and her mother in New York. The children were born in Kansas. C.W. was married at age 29 and Lulu at age 20. Edith and Velda are teachers.

In a letter to Etheldred Schafer dated 26 Jan 1963, Edwin Schafer wrote, "This Christmas I had a letter from Charles Klink, a first cousin and son of Will Klink my Mother's youngest brother. His mother is the only member of the Klink family--wives or husbands still living--of that generation. His mother Aunt Lou is 87."

1939 Charles William Klink died on July 11, 1939, and was buried at Hope Cemetery, Arkansas City, Cowley County, Kansas. [4]

1963 Louise Valalee Klink died on May 7, 1963, and was buried at Hope Cemetery, Arkansas City, Cowley County, Kansas. [5]
