1844 Michael Gangway and Catharine Myers were married on February 15, in Richland County, Ohio. [1] [2]

Michael and Catherine Gongway were named among heirs of George Albert in two deeds in Ashland County, Ohio because Catherine (Moyer) Gongway was a grand-daughter of George Albert through Elizabeth (Albert) Moyer, deceased daughter of George Albert.

1846 On 5 January, Peter Brubaker and wife Catherine, Abraham Moyer and wife Susan, Henry Hartman and wife Barbara, Mary Burke, Jacob Bechtel and wife Anna, Wm Kirchner and wife Elizabeth, Michael Gongaway and wife Catherine, John Moyer Jr, Christian Moyer, Barbara Moyer, George Moyer, Harriet Moyer, Abraham Moyer minor heirs of Elizabeth Moyer by guardian John Moyer Jr, sold sold 13 acres to Nancy Newcomer in section 27 of Milton Twp, Ashland/Richland County, Ohio. [3]

1846 On 5 January, Peter Brubaker and wife Catherine, Abraham Myers and wife Susan, Hartman and wife Barbara, Benjamin Newcomer and wife Nancy, Jacob Bechtel and wife Anna, Wm Kirchner and wife Elizabeth, Michael Gongaway and wife Catherine, John Moyer Jr, Christina Myers, Barbara Moyer, George Moyer, Harriet Moyer, Abraham Moyer minor heirs of Elizabeth Moyer by guardian John Moyer Jr, sold sold 33 acres to Mary Burke, in section 27 of Milton Twp, Ashland/Richland County, Ohio. [4]

1850 Catharine Gongway (age 24, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Olive Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana, in a household with Michail Gongway (age 30), Harret Gongway (age 5), Sarah Gongway (age 2), Elizabeth Gongway (age 1), John Gongway (age 25), and Jacob Bell (age 40). [5]

1854 Michael Gongaway and wife Catherine, Lewis Gongaway and wife Fanny, and Peter Bennet and wife Susannah sold land to Joseph Gongaway on August 18. The land was in Section 27 of Ashland County, as designated in the plat of division made amongst the heirs of George Albert, deceased. The land was adjacent to lands of John Myers and Mary Burk. [6]

1860 Michael Gangway (age 45, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Vermillion, Ashland County, Ohio, at post office Hayesville, with Catherine Gangway (age 35), Harriet Gangway (age 14), Sarah Gangway (age 12), Elizabeth Gangway (age 10), Joseph Gangway (age 8), Maria Gangway (age 6), Mary A Gangway (age 4), Albert Gangway (age 3), and Reuben Gangway (age 6/12). [7]

1870 Michael Gongaway (age 52, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Vermillion, Ashland County, Ohio, at post office Ashland, with Catherine Gongaway (age 44), Harriet Gongaway (age 24), Sarah Gongaway (age 23), Elizabeth Gongaway (age 21), Joseph Gongaway (age 19), Maria Gongaway (age 17), Anna Gongaway (age 15), Albert Gongaway (age 14), Reuben Gongaway (age 12), Michael Gongaway (age 8), Morris Gongaway (age 5), and Alice Gongaway (age 3). [8]

1871 On 15 September, Michael Gongwer and Katherine Myers had a male son born in Vermillion Twp, Ashland County, Ohio. [9]

1880 Michael Gongner (age 62, born in Pennsylvania), married, self (head), Farmer, lived in Vermillion, Ashland County, Ohio (father born in Pennsylvania and mother born in Pennsylvania) with Catharine Gongner (age 54), Albert Gongner (age 22), Anna Gongner (age 24), Reuben Gongner (age 20), Michael Gongner (age 18), Morris Gongner (age 15), and Alice Gongner (age 12). [10]

1890 Catherine Gongwer, wife of Michael, died on November 8, at age 84y 6m 19d and was buried at Zehner Cemetery, Mifflin, Ashland County, Ohio. [11] [12]

1896 Michael Gongwer died on November 18, at age 78y 8m 19d and was buried at Zehner Cemetery, Mifflin, Ashland County, Ohio. [13] [14] [15] An obituary reported [16]:

Copus Hill -- Once more the grim messenger of death has entered this neighborhood, taking one of the most honored citizens, in the person of Michael Gongwer, who was 78 years . He came with his parents from Lancaster County, Pa., to Ashland County, O., at the age of 4 years and had been a resident of this county 74 years with which exception of two years, which time he resided in the state of Indiana. He married Catharine Mayer who preceded him to the grave six years ago. The result of this union was five sons and six daughters, all of whom survive him except the oldest daughter.

Mr. Gongwer was a very energetic man. His death was very sudden. Tuesday he complained of not feeling well but during the day husked some corn. As night drew near he complained of feeling quite bad. Dr. Harkins was called after which he became cheerful but at 2:30 Wednesday morning he passed away as if in a peaceful sleep. Funeral services Friday at 10 a.m. at the Lutheran church in Mifflin.

1904 Albert Gongwer, married, spouse of Margaret Saloma Gongwer, died on March 8, at age 46, in Olive Twp, Elkhart County, Indiana. He was born on May 17, 1857, in Ashland Co Ohio, son of Michael Gongwer and Catharine Moyer. [17]

1905 Anna Gongwer, age 45, and George W. Brown were married on August 26 in Ashland County, Ohio. Anna Gongwer, daughter of Michael Gongwer and Catherine Moyer, was born about 1860. (FHL film 002079408). [18]
