1682 John Sykes, son of Samuel, was born on May 8. [2]

1695 Daniel Smith, of Burlington, and Mary Murfin, of Nottingham Township, were married on July 2, at Francis Davenport's house, Burlington County, New Jersey. Witnessed by Joanna Murfin and others. [3]

1702 Joanna Murfin, spinster of Nottingham, daughter of Robert Murfin deceased, bought land from Isaac Watson, brother of John Watson, deceased. [4]

1704 William Murfin and Sarah Bunting were married on August 8, at Chesterfield. Witnesses: Johanna Murfin and others. [5]

1704 John Sikes (son of Samuel Sykes and Joanna Jolly) and Joanna Murfin made their second declaration of intention to marry, as recorded on October 5, in the Chesterfield, Burlington County, monthly meeting minutes. [6] [7] [8]

1704 John Sykes, of Chesterfield, and Joanna Murfin, of Nottingham, were married on 19 day of month 8 (called October), at Chesterfield. Witnesses: John Warren, Joan Warren, William Murfin, Mary Smith, Sarah Murfin, Elizabeth Sikes, John Murfin, Daniel Smith, Mathew Champion, Ann Ridgway, Gervas Pharo, Mary Pharo, Sarah Hutchinson, Jans Dove, Rebecca Davenport, Mary Foulk, Mary Myers, Mary Rockhill, Ann Abbot, Mary Bacon, Eliz Tantum, Ann Davenport, Susanna Decow, Rebecca Davenport, Frances Davenport, Thos. Folkes, Edward Rockhill, Samuel Bunting, Will Watson, Wm. Wood, John Bunting, Isaac Homer, Tho Scattergood, Tho Scholey, Fran Davenport jun, Joseph Reckless, and George Nicholson. [9] [10] [11]

1709 John and Johana Sikes, and others, witnessed the wedding of Isaac Horner, of Mansfield, and Elizabeth Sikes, of Chesterfield, on 19 of month 3, at Chesterfield, Burlington County, New Jersey. [14]

1709 John Sykes, perhaps this one, was overseer of the highways in Chesterfield Twp, Burlington County, New Jersey and later held other posts. [15]

1745 John Sikes [Sykes], perhaps this one, was a freeholder in Chesterfield Township, Burlington County, New Jersey. Dated April 15. [16]

1769 The will of John Sykes, of Bordentown, Burlington County, yeoman was dated on November 1. [17]:

Wife, Joanna, my house and lot where I live, during her life, and, after her death, to son, Anthony. My plantation at Lebanon, in Hunterdon County, whereon Alexander Beaver lived, after Richard Parr moved off, to be sold, and the money from said sale I give to my wife; but, if she die before me, then to my daughter, Mary Brown. To my sister's daughter, Rachel Taylor, £5. To Bordentown Friends' Meeting, £5. Wife to have personal estate; but, if she die before me, then personal is to be divided into 5 shares, and 2 thereof I give to my daughter, Mary, and to my son, Samuel, my daughter, Ann, and my daughter, Catherine, each 1 share. I give to my Executors, in trust, to be sold by them, a tract in Lebanon, Hunterdon County, which, after taking off 120 acres for the purposes hereafter mentioned, contains about 280 acres, and the money from the sale I give to the use of my eldest son, Samuel, for them to discharge his debts. To son Samuel's wife, Mary, 90 acres of land, being part of my largest tract in Lebanon, and, after her death, to her son, Joseph Sykes. Son, Anthony, the remaining ½ of the plantation where he lives, in Chesterfield Township, having already given him ½ by deed. Daughter, Mary Brown, £20. Daughter, Ann Andrews, £40. Daughter, Catherine Wetheral, £15. Daughter, Joanna Brooks, £10. Son, Anthony, ½ of my cedar swamps. Son, Benjamin, my house and lot in Burlington, and the water lot that lies between the said house and Delaware River; but he is to satisfy John Ridgway of Egg Harbor, according to agreement. I also give him the east ½ of a lot in Bordentown, that I bought of Thomas Wright, being the part where the stable stands; also ½ of my cedar swamps. Daughter, Ann Andrews, the west ½ of the lot I bought of Thomas Wright, in Bordentown, which joins Pine and Walnut Streets. Daughters, Mary Brown and Catharine Weatheral, a lot in Burlington, that joins a lot that was Caleb Papers. Executors—son, Anthony, daughter, Mary Brown, and my son, Benjamin. Witnesses—Joseph Duer, Abigail Coxe, John Taylor.
