1844 Christian C Stoner was born on December 27, in Blair County, Pennsylvania. [1]

1863 Civil War Distinguished Service Noble County, Indiana Infantry, B 88 and G 38 [2]. Civil War Pension, 23 May 1896, Kansas. Fought in Civil War--forager for Generals Grant and Sherman's armies on their march through the south. At review in Washington, D.C. Brother David and 3 cousins killed in war.

1867 Christian Stoner and Rachel A Winebrenner were married on April 29, in Noble County, Indiana. Eld. Peter Winebrenner signed the marriage license. [3] [4]

1870 Christian Stoner (age 24) and Rachel (age 19) lived in Noble Twp, Noble County, Indiana with adopted son Ulysses G Hardy (age 6). [5]

1873 Christian Stoner moved to Cloud County, Kansas and farmed a homestead of 160 acres. [6]

1880 CC Stoner (age 35) and Rachel A Stoner (age 29) lived in Cloud County, Kansas with daughter Barbara E Stoner (age 5) and mother Polly (age 70). [7]

1885 Christian Stoner (farmer, age 40) and Rachel (age 34) lived at Concordia, Nelson Twp, Cloud County, Kansas with [mother] Polly (age 75), Ella (age 9) and George (age 7 months). [8]

1896-7 Christian Stoner was a member of the Assembly of the Kansas State Legislature. [9]

1900 Christian C Stoner (age 55, born Dec 1844) and Rachel A Stoner (age 49) lived in Nelson Twp, Cloud County, Kansas with sons George (age 15) and Peter (age 11). [10]

1904 Christian Stoner moved to Lincoln County, Kansas and was owner and editor of the Lincoln Sentinel newspaper in Lincoln, Nebraska. [11]

c 1907 Christian Stoner moved to Orange County, California. [12]

1910 Christian Stoner (age 65) and Rachel A Stoner (age 59) lived in Orange, Orange County, California with son Peter W Stoner (age 21). [13]

1920 Christian Stoner (age 75) and Rachel (age 68) lived in Orange Twp, Orange County, California. [14]

1923 Rachel A. Stoner (1851-1923) died and was buried at Fairhaven Memorial Park, Santa Ana, Orange County, California. [15]

1930 Christine C Stoner (age 85, born in Pennsylvania, widowed, first married at age 22), boarder, lived in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, in a household with Barbara E Beolwine (age 77). Christine C Stoner's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. [16] [17]

1931 Christian C. Stoner (1844-1931) died and was buried at Fairhaven Memorial Park, Santa Ana, Orange County, California. [18]

Research Notes:

Christian Cowan (CC) Stoner's earliest memory was jumping out of the hayloft when he was about 4 years old in his uncle's barn. There was a big pile of hay to land in, however, someone had left a pitchfork in it. "I jumped into said pile of hay and the tine of said pitchfork went through my foot," he wrote. [19]

Christian Stoner was a lawyer, judge and member of the Kansas State Legislature. He moved to Lincoln, Kansas, when his kids were in college (Kansas Christian College) and bought the newspaper there, which he edited and published. He moved to Orange, California around 1907 or 1908 and bought a ranch. He became mayor of Orange. He died in 1930 or 31 in Orange. Reported by a descendant (grandchild).
