Notes for Samuel Hadley and Jane Martin

Moved from Rowley to Amesbury, Massachusetts before 1667 and was a weaver. He was in the training band, a tything man in 1702, member of the church in west parish of Amesbury and taxed for the support of the preaching there in 1726, soldier in the Narragansett war and received a grant of land in Buxton, Maine, and a half share in the township of Warner, New Hampshire which he sold to Capt Francis Davis. The location of his home was in the northwesterly quarter of Amesbury near the point of the intersection of the town lines of Amesbury and Haverhill in Massachusetts and Plaistow and Newton in New Hampshire. Samuel Hadley and Jane Martin were ancestors of president Chester Arthur. Several biographical facts were reported by Gary Peters. [2]
