1901 Charles Harte (age 33, born Dec 1867 in Ontario), occupation Asst. Supt. Copper Co, lived with his parents, John Harte and Eliza H. Harte, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The family religion was Anglican. [1] [2]

c1900-1910 "Ed was a bachelor for many years and then married late in life. He gave his niece Ella Francis Miles a silver spoon for each birthday." [3]

1912 On 18 September, Charles Edward Harte, son of John Harte and Eliza Meakins, and Ruth Elizabeth Weisenstein, daughter of Jos. F Weisenstein and Bertha Prothero, were married at the Church of the Heavenly Rest in Springfield, Clark County, Ohio. The marriage license states that Charles was born on 5 December 1867 in Hamilton, Ontario, and that Ruth was born on 27 October 1890 in Springfield, Ohio. [4]

Bishop John Joseph Meakin Harte wrote, "My father, Charles Edward Harte ... had worked for International Harvester in Canada and Chicago, and he moved to Springfield, my mother's home, in 1910. He was a master mechanic in charge of the truck assembly line in the Springfield International Harvester plant. Mother was organist-choirmistress of the Church of Heavenly Rest. Both my mother and her sister, Mary, had attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. They both taught piano and organ. During her adult life my mother directed the choir and was organist in Episcopal, Lutheran, and Presbyterian churches.... My father drew the plans for the house, 368 E. Madison Ave., in which I was born. There I lived until I went off to College in September, 1932. Our home, on a pleasant, tree shaded street was five blocks east of the Wittenberg College campus. My earliest memories are of the vegetable garden my father had planted in our back yard. We had cages where I raised rabbits. ... My father and my mother ... probably met at the Church of the Heavenly Rest in Springfield. This Episcopal Church was a short distance on Plum Street from the home of my grandfather and grandmother. ... mother was organist and choir director at the Church. My father was vestryman and senior Warden. My sister and I went to Church every Sunday and sat with my father in a front pew. Mother was at the organ bench. ... [5]

1920 On January 2, Charles E. Harte (age 50) and his wife Ruth E. Harte (age 29) lived at 368 Madison Ave, Springfield Ward 3, District 68, Clark County, Ohio, with their son John J. (age 5, born in Ohio). Charles was a machinist in an implement company. He was born in Canada, emigrated to the U.S. in 1892, and was naturalized in 1896. His father born in Ireland, and his mother was born in Canada. Ruth was born in Ohio as were both of her parents. [6]

Bishop John Joseph Meakin Harte wrote, "I believe it was in the fall of 1923 that my father was carried on a stretcher into our home, the victim of a stroke. The stroke had occurred late in the afternoon at his factory on Lagonda Ave. What a devastating moment that was. But not as much as on February 14, 1924, when I found him dead. Just before supper my mother sent me to his room, to tell that dinner was ready. He was on his back in his bed. I knew immediately that he had died. ... Following the stroke my father's left side was paralyzed. His speech was damaged and slurred. I recall his sitting on our front porch in a rocking chair reading the Saturday Evening Post. ... When my father died, my mother owned our home and had a ten thousand dollar life insurance policy. ... Grandfather and grandmother moved to our home to help mother make a go of it. In the house to the west of ours, 362 E. Madison Ave., mother's sister, Mamie, her husband, Henry Herbert Swope, whom we all called "Doc", and their two sons lived. [7]

1925 Charles E Harte died, at age 57, on February 14 in Springfield, Clark County, Ohio. He had lived at 368 E. Madison St.. He was married and was a master mechanic. He was born 5 December, 1867 in Hamilton, Onterio, Canada. He was buried 17 February, 1925 at Ferncliff. His parents were John Harte (born Ireland) and Eliza Meakins (born England). His spouse's name was Ruth Harte. [8]

1930 On April 18, Ruth Harte (age 39), widow, and her children J. Joseph (age 15) and Maryann (age 9) lived with Ruth's parents at 368 E. Madison Avenue in Springfield, Clark County, Ohio. [9] Henry H. Swope (age 40), an automobile salesman, and his wife Mary W. (age 36) lived at 362 East Madison with sons Henry H. (age 6) and John M. (age 3.) [10]

1940 On April 29, Ruth W. Harte (age 48) lived in Ward 3, Springfield City, Clark County, Ohio with her father Joseph F. Weisenstein (age 74) and her daughter Maryann Harte (age 19). [11] [12]

1943 Ruth Weisenstein Harte applied for a Social Security number. [13]

1943 Maryann Harte enlisted in the Army on August 5, 1943, and was discharged on October 7, 1945. The record reports her death date as February 7, 1985. [14]

1959 Ruth W Donaldson died, at age 68, on 22 March 1959 in Circleville, Pickaway County, Ohio, at Berger Hospital. She last lived in Lancaster, Fairfield County, Ohio. [15]

1995 Maryann Harte died on February 7. Her last residence was Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona 85021. [16]
